You had to jinx it, didn't you?
If it doesnt get atleast ONE score lower than 6/10, I will give you my left testicle.

Currently a 79/100 on Metacritic. Basically the main reason for the low scores is that its too familiar....is that supposed to be a bad thing? Oh well, I'm still buying it. I want familiar.
The funny thing is that games like Dead Spaced 3 get bashed for straying too much from the formula while games like Ascension get bashed by not straying much at all. What the fuck do people want?
EDIT: I'm avoiding spoilers. Have any of the reviews mentioned multiplayer?
Ah well I've had enough of this. I'm going back to playing GOW Origins till Ascension comes in the mail. I find the PSP games are actually pretty good. See some of you in the arena next week! If anybody has Thor's hammer I won't be playing with you. So unfair :/
Playstation = The Beast from the East

Sony + Nintendo = WIN! PS3 + PSV + PS4 + Wii U + 3DS

Here in lies my biggest gripe with current day reviewers: inconsistency. Funnily enough, this trend started with God of War III. |
It did?!

Laughable scores. How can God of War all of a sudden only deserve a 7? I can't trust reviewers anymore.

I know right? But just ..maybe MAYBE the MP actually did take a hit on the SP. Like I don't mean the SP is bad, but the purpose of telling the story is a bit.. less "exciting" than GoW3 would you not agree? It feels as if Ascensions sole purpose is to try the MP. Why? So that they can have a MP in the PS3 era? I doubt that.
I think the real question is: What the fuck is Stig Asmussen and his SSM team doing xD. I dont really think its GoWIV but if it is: It kinda makes me go "ahaaa".
Nah I think this team wanted to try the MP and still give us an experience in the SP. But the purpose of the game seems rather obvious to me. And it is quite clever rather than starting a trilogy or something and baking the MP in too. It is simply too much.

The frame-rate – which hovers around the series’ 60FPS benchmark without too many hiccups – gives the animation an extraordinarily believable appearance, which is particularly noticeable when the camera zooms out on antagonists large enough to fill the screen. There are moments where the scale is so big that it becomes a detriment to the actual gameplay – fighting on the back of an enormous mechanical snake as it races through a collapsing ice cavern is one such area – but it’s hard not to appreciate the spectacle as you zip through the world". Looks like Ascension holds the console graphics visual crown. The Last Of us and 3EYOND - bring ya "A" game! |
Yeah the graphics is one particular area that is getting clear praise throughout. SSM Wizardry I guess
