Forums - Gaming - So, EA deliberately strips Dead Space of the elements that made it great and cans it when it no longer appeals?!

Seriously, when are people going to stop supporting Electronic Arts?! They MUST end these shady business practices. Seriously. They are doing more harm to gaming than good. I mean sure they have more money than God and they buy up any and and every new uber talented studio or ip so they can milk it to smithereens but WE as gamers and consumers should not reward their borderline evil business models by purchasing their products. Dead Space is the just the latest in a long line of titles that have been systematically lobotomized once EA got their hands on them. And with their movement towards microtransactions and Day 1 DLC, I think it's safe to say that EA has really lost its soul. Sometimes you get too big for your own britches and you lose sight of what made you great to begin win. EA in the 90s were LEADERS IN INNOVATION not just publishers who wanted to milk every single game dry then discard it like a piece of meat.

And don't get me started on EA Sports. And Madden. And NBA Live. Oh dear, Lord. The horror.

I am done with EA games after i bought FIFA 13 on Wii U to only notice its FIFA 12 with a changed logo. There are people on this forum that love EA to death despite what they do and will go bat sh*t crazy for this thread so be careful. I was barely even given a fair chance to rant about the injustice that was done with FIFA 13. Instead they tried to convince me its Nintendo's fault for FIFA 13 being FIFA 12 somehow.

This is how most developers think in the 7th gen; add gimmicks and effects and shallow, action-filled gameplay to great profit. Keep on grinding the same shit over and over, remove more and more depth, sit back in stunned silence as sales plummet.
Resident Evil is the worst sinner in this regard and show that Japanese developers are adopting the same mindset as the Western ones.
This is not good news and what's worse is that companies like EA and Activision practically own all of the industry and force a lot of smaller developers to adopt this model.

EA killed companies like Westwood and Bullfrog and keep on doing it to others, gaming is headed for a dark place, perhaps not entirely gloomy business wise but certainly from a creative and depth standpoint.

If you don't like their games then don't buy them. I don't know what else to say beyond that.

Personally, I will buy Dragon Age 3. I have no desire to see BioWare close down. I'll continue to ignore microtransactions, but it seems to be a popular feature, so it probably won't go anywhere. I have zero problem with Day One DLC, though, and don't really understand why it's such an issue. As for tacked on multi-player, I can't blame EA for that one bit, not when the people who argue against restrictions on used games aways say, "add more value and I won't trade the games in." It's directly and completely a response to that.

I'm not much of a fan of EA and some of their practices but I'm also not going to condemn them too harshly for trying to survive as a business. I'll buy the good games they make and ignore the bad ones, just like with anyone else.

I agree. Dead Space is one of my favorite franchises this gen and I won't buy Dead Space 3 because of things like online passes and trophies. I simply won't support the effort to kill the used games market. Plus Dead Space should have remained what it is and always should be: a single player survival horror.

PS: It's breeches not britches.

You do realize this rumor was proven fabricated correct.......
Have you even played Dead Space 3

I enjoyed Dead space 3 a lot, just like DS1 and DS2.

EA was a lovely publisher between the years of 2007-2009... Just saying.

The sentiment is not realistic. People are never going to miss out on game they want to play just for the sake of making a point to the publisher.

Well that's just plain stupid and non smart consumer politics. Anyone who will sit idle and mute when business malpractice occurs to weaken and exploit the conusmer either works for that company and or are just so blinded by fanboyism that they can not or refuse to see the reality of the situation. THAT THEY ARE BEING SCREWED OVER. Either way, it's not someone I will ever take seriously. So I could care less about them to be honest.
