I'd say a hallmark of (bad) scum is that they skim in the sense that they only bother looking for things that directly address themselves or maybe their scumteam. Anything else is ignored. (Bad) town is more likely to skim in the sense of looking at everything, but barely paying attention to any of it. They may react much more strongly to something about themselves but not because it is all they were willing to even look for.
I don't know how my definitions match up with what nen was calling "skimming" or what he was trying to peg you as.

Plausible, but way to elaborate, and if that would be true, their plan has been working incredibly smoothly.

Why would it suggest that, in what way? Do I or he think that nen is scum? Why do you say this? So the bussing theory is not working for me.
(@bong. bussing means "throwing your teammate under the bus". There's another use of the term, but it's actually an incorrect one which is used instead of bus-driving a player, which is playing the night action of a bus driver, but that's for later.)
This is all just fabulative reasoning that was pulled out of a mafia's arse so as to throw you off by some kind of far-fetched knowledge that really if you pay attention is really just thin air.
Bottom line, when did I or Bong suspect you and nen to be scumbuddies?

I find it hard to believe spurge would be that credulous if he was actually trying to evaluate whether one of us is lying, which suggests he's scum. But mainly, it just shows that he's not paying attention, since I do credit him with at least the critical thinking skills of a kindergartener. I didn't say all this before because I wanted to see if the situation would play out any more. Which it may yet if he's TRULY unobservant.

I don't believe your PM said any such thing. No matter though.
No, I used to regard hat highly regardless of his alignment, but over time it's become apparant that while he can be very good(as town) at times, he's in it more for the kicks than anything else. I don't mind that though because even if he's town he won't just sabotage town just for the lulz.
And more importantly, if scum, hat is no mastermind.(I used to think he was, but then confirmed that not to be the case) So he would not tell a newbie to act in such a way. It's possible(though unlikely given both the rest of the players and the timeing) that someone else would have instructed him to do so, but even if hat had told him to do such, he would not have further "confirmed" him as town. Why? Because above all else, hat is not a team player. He values his own life in Mafia above everyone else. So he wouldn't tie himself to a plan that could backfire and expose him as scum. hat would know that even with the early head start, he can't always be there to make sure Bong doesn't blow the whole thing up and get himself lynched, not to mention town power roles that can pin Bong as scum. Plus there is likely a SK or Town killing role(just personal setup meta) that could force Bong's flip at any given time.
