Forums - General Discussion - Seriously sick of the politics threads

I'm of the philosophy that he who chooses not to vote should also not bitch. And I'm all for changing the world as you can see from the save darfur stuff in my Profile which I STILL annoy my Senators with to this day. I have people I'm voting for as well.

But for the love of God people, we need more Caturday threads and less Chelsea's momma vs. Obama-drama or any other political what not. The sticky seems good, after all Washington is FULL of uninformed people legislating on things they know nothing about. Why just this morning I helped my mother write a letter to her congressman on military survivor benefits, I'm even reading a political book right now (Colin Powell's American journal)

But seriously if this is how it's gonna be for the next year I'm gonna be elsewhere for the most of it.

At least can we confine it to ONE thread? like an "election '08 superthread/flame war" it would be fine if it was like that and people discussed logicly rather then flinging poo like Ann Coulter caged with Kieth Obermann arguing over the last banana. If you choose not to vote Obama you chances are are not a racist and if not hIllary are not an anti-feminist oppressor, Voting for McCain does not make you a warmonger and voting for Giulianni does not make you and adulterer. Voting for Alan Keyes doesn't make you a Theocratic bible thumper, Voting for Mike Gravel..... okay I must admit that would be crazy, but I am not gonna judge and niether should you.

You know the great thing about saying you are undecided even if you are not? No one calls you a moron and all candidates of BOTH parties have to kiss your ass.

I wish there was a way to filter threads.

Huckabee seems like a nice person with good intentions.... even if he may not be fully qualified or i may not agree with all his stances.... oh wait that's how I feel about EVERYONE WHO IS RUNNING!

Somehow my thread is about to derail into partisan politics again.

Oh well I might as well start some shit to get the fires going befor i leave.

ABORTION?

SLAVE REPERATIONS?

MARIJUANA LEGALIZATION?

CURRENT WARS?

A FUTURE WAR?

IS EMMINENT DOMAIN A VIOLATION OF 6th AMENDMENT?

IS WATERBOARDING TORTURE?

IS WIRETAPPING CONSTITUTIONAL?

WAS WILLIAM HENRY HARRISON A GENOCIDAL RACIST? (yeah he coined the phrase "the only good indian is a dead indian" and ran on a platform of wiping them off the Earth)

ISRAEL?

AZERBAIJAN?

THAT NIPPLE WHITENING CREAM I SAW IN JAPAN?

TAXES?

9/11 ?

HEALTHCARE?

Death Penalty?

*covers head and watches for shitstorm*

quite frankly, i think all those issues pale in comparison to making sure this country gets the cleanest of all energies out there--nuclear power. humans are notoriously at being extremely poor at rating risks, and i just hope whoever get elected starting implementing a real nuclear power program so all this coal and oil dependence can start being alleviated. and because of a whole slew of reasons, nuclear power plants need gov't support to be successful--one reason being that it takes about 10 years to build one, so it needs to get going as soon as possible.

i think most politicians actually understand this, but it's a notoriously unpopular idea that all of them cannot afford to publicly embrace it.
