Forums - Sony - It's Soul Sacrifice week! Let's makes some predictions

Greetings friends,

Soul Sacrifice is releasing in four days in Japan and with that feel its time to make some predictions on first week (Japan).

My pros for the game to sell well:

Identity:  Outside a small number of games, Soul Sacrifice is only available on the Playstation Vita.  There is no promise of a PS3 version and its not a port or remake of any game before it.

Advertising:  It seems that Sony is advertising this game under a new slogan of "Happy Hunting".  I think this change of pace is good in that its going after the segment that made the original PSP so popular in Japan. The current "console gaming on the go" has not been to helpful its first year on the market in Japan and I am hoping this change ushers in a new wave of games (which is already forming) and usher in other games that are not too tied to console port counterparts.

Price:  Usually on COMG i see vita games priced very expensively compared to others.  The current price for the game is a respectable 4800 Yen.

Positive Reviews:  Current 37 from Famitsu and the demo well received

My cons:

Accessibility:  I feel that the CERO rating for the game can limit its legs in the future as only a certain segement will have access to purchase the game.  It may not be a issue but if there was on that would be it.

And with that I think Sony will be somewhat conserative with its inital shipment.  It will be between 200-250k and its sell-thru will be in the mid 80s so I see first week between 170k-213k with a more exact answer of 195k.

I'd say a 60-70% sell-through is more likely, but I've been surprised before.

The Screamapillar is easily identified by its constant screaming—it even screams in its sleep. The Screamapillar is the favorite food of everything, is sexually attracted to fire, and needs constant reassurance or it will die.

195k 1st week is far too high. If you look at the COMG charts, it's looking to get around 50points max.
Yes I realize there are 3 versions and all, but I'm going to have to say 100k at the absolute maximum.

Personally thinking around 75-80k 1st week.

100k first week, it look higth number but i consider every dual pack sold like 2 games sold.

I think the games coul sold 1 millions worldwide and i predict the game in the west will sold more then Japan.

PS4 - over 100 millions let's say 120m
Xbox One - 70m
Wii U - 25m

Vita - 15m if it will not get Final Fantasy Kingdoms Heart and Monster Hunter 20m otherwise
3DS - 80m

Soul Sacrifice will have a higher profile than Persona 4 and Project Diva.  So while the COMG is low (and MGR numbers throwing me off) I think first week will easily rise above those two games (with Project Diva at 160k)

Just FYI, CERO D rating does not age restrict purchases. I think the main restriction is the relatively low Vita install base, the price of entry for newcomers, and the fact that it is a new IP and Japan is usually slow to embrace new IPs.

If we count all sales sources (bundles, double pack properly counted as 2, and digital) I'm sure the game will sell over 150k in the first week, but not expecting it to hit millions.

Id love it to sell more but Im thinking 50k first week but will have great legs and sell like demon souls did in japan. I think it will have a higher opening in the west and will sit around 600k LTD. Im hoping that im wrong and it totally owns everything and sells monster loads.

i'll go with 51k

sorry think-man :P
