Pwahahaha, ok. Right. Supersmash is sooo much deeper than PS All-Stars Battle Royale, and we can only look at random beat'em up games rather than erm....the games themseleves? Because Mario Galaxy is more emotive than Heavy Rain. Well, maybe if you're on LSD. Oh, and Zelda trumps Ico any day because hyper-immersive and rich environments are trumped by the water temple. Umhum. No. Now stop it. |
My guess is that this post is EXACTLY what RolStoppable was hoping to see?
Started a little slow, but things are getting rolled well now.
Proud to be the first cool Nintendo fan ever
Number ONE Zelda fan in the Universe
Prediction: No Zelda HD for Wii U, quietly moved to the succesor
Predictions for Nintendo NX and Mobile

| superchunk said: I absolutely agree. Having been a PS3 user, I'm so happy to have sold it and gotten a WiiU. Nintendo simply always has a line-up of games that simply put define the genre. Sony is all about the pretty with no substance. Well I like to fuck the pretty, but I marry one with substance and her beauty is there but not the focal point. |
So what WiiU games give you that substance right now?
Also, are you saying you didn't enjoy the games you got on the PS3? Cause I remember you saying you're the kind of person who doesn't keep his past consoles and moves on from gen to gen anyways.

third person shooters? hack and slash? interactive drama? fully open world action games? games like flower, ico or shadow of the colossus? heck, story driven games? zombie games?

Alright! Game is on!
Let me take some 3DS e shop titles for back up!
Pushmo/Crashmo - puzzle , Sakuri Art of Samurai - strategic fighting, Dillon's Rolling Western - open world action game? with strategy elements , FreakyForms - customize your own world, create your own characters
Jet Force Gemini - third person shooter (its been awhile), all other genres listed I'm stumped right now so I need back up called on these
How do you counter a game like Animal Crossing?
Honestly, plastation always has the most amount of games i care about. They always have a lot of variety and awesome fun exclusives. Using the superficial and graphics whore argument is very silly when the games have everything. They have good gameplay, good story, awesome characters and they also look good. All this with also awesome 3rd party support. For me i never had a problem with the playstation brand because they cater to the gamer no matter what, you want platformers, 1st person, 3rd person, puzzle, hack n slash, super hero, car games you got it. They always try to keep things fresh even listening to fan feedback and developer feedback. I like zelda, pokemon, xenoblade but honestly Nintendo has way to many negatives for me to ever support them over playstation. I think of it in the most logical way possible and playstation always comes out on top.

Aldro and his gif porn is a bad example maybe, but speaking personally: Great stories, great characters, great actors/actresses and great pacing (aside from in UC3), is what makes the series amazing. The visuals compliment that, not the other way around. Is the gameplay incredibly deep and complex? No, but it's no where near as simple and effortless as some make it out to be. It works, it's solid, tight and enjoyable. Even genuinely challenging on harder difficulties. And even if all I'm essentially doing in it is climbing shit and shooting, what does it matter if I'm still enjoying the fuck out of it throughout the full 8-10 hours? |
Yeah the things you listed all count into presentation man, that's what made Uncharted 2 amazing in 2009. Though Uncharted 3 had so many unanswered questions and was like WTF? It still had a pretty good presentation, that's what makes the series good, and I did plat 2, just didn't have time with 3 so I know how the gameplay works lol, I'm just saying that gameplay is not the strong point of Uncharted in general, it really isn't, it's the good presentation and Aldro jizzes all over the graphics. Literally in the past few years, any time there is console graphics comparison threads, he would post a shit ton of Uncharted SS haha, and rightfully so. I'm just answering the question man.

That's the thing though. Andre's talking about story and characters, and you're blurring the lines with the word presentation, and then you're bringing it back to graphics.
The point Andre was making is that it isn't all about the graphics, but rather about an experience. Though the gameplay is totally acceptable, the game is a great experience to enjoy, bottom line.
