Man I need better internet so I can play this when it comes out

I love how they say "announced" release date. Guess they don't have too much confidence in those games sticking to the plan lol.

I think the music kinda ruins the ad tbh. Destiny gameplay looks awesome though.

Yep, Destiny is shaping up like a masterpiece. Can't wait for this E3.

Saw the Watch Dogs commercial during The Walking Dead, looks like Sony is revving up the marketing engine again.

If you think about it though, if they went back to totally revamp the social features then I would say it would easily take them 3-4 months to get them designed and implemented/working. Then having to refine and test them so they work flawlessly. Then on top of that from the small clips they were giving us a few months ago was polished as fuck in the graphics department. Still some work but still 100% better than E3/Gamescom footage! And not to mention they probably found some parts that just didn't work well and are trying to make those work.

So they have been polishing/refining/changing up social features from scratch(maybe?) That's gonna take good while. IMO, 5 months is definitely not enough time to make sure everything will be up to the standard they want to release it. It will likely come in 2014, the Sony PR person probably didn't want the guy to say anything about the release date as they are probably deciding to either release it in early summer/or early fall.

So all in all, IMO, people are over exaggerating what was said in the IGN article. Which honestly seems to happen a lot when it comes to IGN articles. :-p And this is what you get when sony lets their developers do what they want and have loads of freedom. Which is why I believe Sony is vastly the best publisher out there right now.

Regarding the last paragraph. As seen by DriveClub, The Last Guardian, the cancelled SSM project, giving loads of freedom is a hit and miss.

DriveClub was flawed/crap so they had to work more, TLG had so much freedom that it is taking 7 years to make and counting, SSM project if we go by the rumours was a bit unlucky to be similar to Destiny but all in all after the overhaul turned out to be crap enough to get cancelled. Going by the Druckmann/Straley AMA the TLoU team is 9 months after the launch of their last game and still in a brainstorm/pre production stage at best with their next game (I hope they lied about it honestly). Gran Turismo's make way too much to develop for the improvements they show. Not to mention the stories from Sony Japan Studio about tens of projects started at once and no fruition before the executive from Santa Monika had gone there to overlook things. And these are only things we more less know about.

This freedom may be good for creative process but is also fucking inefficient and simply bad business.

I think sony has struck a nice balance though between giving their studios a lot of freedom and keeping them on deadlines.  The last guardian is an exception and is likely not at all costing Sony a lot of money.  There have been many reports saying the team that was doing TLG was floating between different projects. SSM is just a tragic side effect of development hell. They just couldn't come up with something new and different that could make their game vastly different than Destiny which is why the project was likely cancelled(if that rumor of it being like destiny were true).   And honestly Gran tursimo doesn't really have long dev times aside from GT5.  I mean Sony's track record record for bringing out games is phenomenal.  More so than MS and even better than nintendo for the past 3-4 years.  My opinion of course. :-p

And speaking of Druckmann/Straley, I highly doubt they are only just now brainstorming their new game.  I personally believe they started figuring out what to do next after TLOU wrapped all while creating Left Behind.  And I also believe it will be a TLOU sequel, if not I will be shocked.  I think what they meant when they said 50% chance of it being TLOU sequel and 50% being a new IP is just that they don't know if the TLOU sequel will work so they are still open to the idea of a new IP if it doesn't.  Small pre-production probably started a couple months after TLOU released and is now ramping up into full on pre production where they cover a lot of their bases and get all the ideas and story written.  Full production for the game could very likely start by early next year for a release in late 2016 early 2017.  And this is all just speculation from me, but seems quite likely is what happened, imo.  Lets hope!!

I got my beanie!

I think you guys misunderstood the article. The article was talking about the delay of Driveclub prior to launch.
