Actually... You are WRONG.

There is proof and existing artwork that shows Sony's Cambridge studio was working on Heavenly Sword 2 at one point. That alone proves Sony had an interest in continuing the Heavenly Sword franchise.

They also had Nariko in PSASBR. And Nariko was featured numerous times in last weeks highlight videos about Playstation.

The fact is, Ninja Theory are not the victims here. They thought they would sell more by being multiplat.... and the opposite happened.

Publishers commonly switch developers for their IPs, if they think that that is the best course of action. The point is that Sony didn't trust Ninja Theory to make a game that sells. I don't blame Sony, because NT has proven that they can't.

Ninja Theory is of course not a victim. My issue with your OP is that you make it sound like NT went down, because they betrayed Sony.

I never said they betrayed Sony.

I said they went multiplat thinking they could double their sales.... and their plan failed.

Heavenly Sword 2 is very much a game I would love to see. However, I bought it late a decent price and feel it was justified. If I'd have paid £40 for the game when it came out, I'd feel very ripped off.

Therein lies a missed opportunity for Sony and Ninja Theory, in my opinion. The work was already done with Heavenly Sword - engine made; characters designed; combat defined; universe set out. I'd imagine there would've been a significantly smaller amount of work involved in making a sequel, which could potentially right many of the wrongs of the original (it was too damn hig... err, short). They should have at least tried to work together to see if they could get it perfect second time around.

Combining what Pezus and HappyD said, I think there is an inherent problem here. There is a lot of free publicity and sales loyalty from making a game exclusive, and it's something that both Ninja Theory and now my beloved Insomniac have fallen foul of. Both of the teams make "good but not great" games (even though I love Insomniac and that's hard for me to say), which is more the problem here. A game of that calibre, I feel, will cost less and sell more if it's exclusive. So unless either of them step up to become an AAA studio, they'll have a hard time in the wilderness of multi-platform development.

Who knows what the future holds. Maybe we'll see them both return to Sony, or maybe they'll both really crank it up for their next titles. Ratchet on PS4 is a shoe-in regardless of how badly Fuse does (unless it kills the whole company); but I would be very excited to hear if Sony could get NT back so we could see Nariko & Kai again.

It's interesting a few of you have mentioned Insomniac.

Their new game Fuse has no hype. EA hasn't been pushing it. It's going to bomb! big time.

Do you have any kind of evidence that Sony wanted another game from Ninja Theory?

There is no evidence that Sony wanted another game from Ninja Theory, but there is evidence that Heavenly Sword 2 was in development at some point:

Thing is, it was in development at their Cambridge Studio.  So whether they asked NT and they declined; or simple went ahead without them, I do not know.

As I recall after Heavenly Sword Sony specifically said didn't want to work with Ninja Theory anymore making the whole thread kind of pointless.   Planning to have a different studio make Heavenly Sword 2 before shelving it because well... they're expensive with that motion cap technology.

beyond a reasonable doubt. yes, and without a question. Sony wouldn't have bought them, but Heavenly Sword 4 would be a launch title for PS4.

and now we'll never know how HS ends.

Indeed, they should have gone the way of thatgamecompany and become bankrupt just so they can stay Sony exclusive, sounds logical to me.

Without order nothing can exist - without chaos nothing can evolve.

Proof or it didnt happen

that's the first Ive ever heard that.

It's hard to say much about DMC since the game has only been out a month.

Lol Sony more than likely didn't want to work with them anymore. I think Ninja theory is very talented and will one day hopefully get a good hit. Non of their games are bad nor do they get bad scores. Actually their scores improve with each release which shows improvement in some regard.
