What's up with 3DS in America's? I think something is understracked. Fire Emblem had 170,000 pre-orders and only opened up to 200,000 sales, now crawling to 300,000 in Americas.

20,000 systems a week is half of what it did before the major adjustment a couple weeks back, and it's half of what it did in 2012 for the equivalent week. How are 3DS sales down Year on Year?

Don't pay much attention to the pre-order chart, is the long and short of the answer to this.  It's notoriously bad at the best of times, but even worse at tracking pre-orders of niche genres (such as JRPG's).

I presume the current sales trend is because of January's NPD numbers.  We'll be getting the February figures in about a week, so just wait until then to see if we've been undertracking or not.  I suspect Fire Emblem might end up being overtracked like Ni No Kuni was, but we'll see.

I disagree about it being overtracked. This game has recieved more hype then any Fire Emblem game, and if you went to an EB Games/Gamestop even on the day of release, it was sold out. Within a couple days it was sold out everywhere. Nintendo knew this would become the best selling Fire Emblem yet, and if it sold out, that's just insane.

P.S. You are so right about pre-order charts, the last edition had two games which were already released and 1 game which was long cancelled.

I'm not an idiot I know we don't track digital sales. But you are acting as if the game hasn't pushed systems or hasn't sold well and is undertracked.

Yeah, and that's what I said in my post... we'll see how well it has done once NPD gets here :P

Maybe you're right and it'll be horrifically undertracked.  But given a likely under-shipment from Nintendo combined with traditional overtracking of JRPG's by VGChartz, I suspect our numbers will be higher than NPD.

But how can you think its numbers on VGC will be higher than NDP when we don't even track digital sales.

NPD will only track physical sales.  And because of what I said in that post.  We have a habit of overtracking JRPG's and more niche titles, I don't see why that would change with Fire Emblem.

It'll sell whatever Nintendo shipped in the first few weeks.  NPD will be more accurate at tracking however much that was than VGChartz.  I think our tracking will have overshot it.  Perhaps I'm wrong, and I'll be very happy if I am, because the game deserves it.  So we'll just have to wait and see.

Really? I didn't know that NPD didn't track digital sales either. That is disappointing

Thrilling week!

PSV clearly needs a price cut also outside of Japan.

Have to say, I'm not even slightly sad to see Colonial Marines tanking. I know, it seems rather mean and what not to wish bad on others, but the game needed to crash and burn. DNF ending up with a million and a half sales was already pretty bad (from Gearbox as well, no less). This thing needed to be an example that gamers just don't really want to put up with games that bad and it seems like that's happening.

4,000 units of Persona 4 in the EU's first week? You kidding me?

It only released on 22nd or 23rd I think.  So either 1 or 2 days worth of sales.  Wait until next week's chart before judging.

With that said, don't expect them to be great either.  Persona has never really done much in Europe.  P3P on PSP sold 30k physical according to our numbers.

well, that's odd. i was expecting more because it was really successful in NA, and the reactions to Persona 4 i have read on german websites were also very great. so i was kind of overwhelmed. although its just one or two days counted, 4k just feels kind of too low.

was it on the US store day one like EU , and  a lot of people like me import when they make you wait so long I mean at one time we didn't even have a firm date and until Atlas get their act together in regard's to publishing in Europe it will stay that way.
