The Wii U has a plethora of problems, least of which are its name at this point. Personally I think calling the new system the "Wii U' was bad to begin with. Most of my hardcore gaming friends see the Wii as a casual system and they see the Wii U as an extension of that, irrespective of what Nintendo is saying. Changing the name at this point would only cause more damage. Nintendo has to sort out a lot of things to get the system on track.

Nintendo held themselves back by ultimately listening to Reggie get swept into thinking catering to so-called driving force, an industry whose developers are filing bankruptcy left and right, was ever a bright idea.

This in turn came a half-assed made system that they themselves do not understand.
This resulted in very poor marketing strategy.

What'd they get? Betrayal from third parties, Refusal from gamers, and most importantly what they worked so hard for to cater to also, mass confusion from the casual/mainstream audience.

Wii U is everything not what made the Wii briliant.
