Don't forget that due to YLOD the PS3 has about 20% of its shipped consoles actually still working.

What?
YLOD was never that huge of a problem as RROD was. The older 360's used to fail so much that even local repair shops started banning the 360s for repair lol. My local repair shop was one of them.

Sorry that comment is hilarious. Are you suggesting a repair shop, that makes money on repairs, BANNED a retail product because they made you too much business?
Also, let's not forget some facts:
Sony began hiding it's true PS3 sales numbers by combining PS2 numbers into the same report. This started about halway through 2012 and continues even today.
Here's your proof: http://www.sony.net/SonyInfo/IR/financial/fr/12q3_sonypre.pdf
It seems that Sony is grasping at straws, desperately trying to gain some market share right before the next gen hits. They are losing hundreds of millions of dollars each quarter with no sign of improvement. So, they first tell everyone they won't make an announcement about next gen until after Microsoft, then turn around and do the exact opposite. Meanwhile, they are hiding true sales figures for the PS3, but still reporting those inaccurate numbers to the news media (which further fuels the fanboy vs fanboy war with misinformation).
Now, I don't think the word 'dominate' really describes Microsoft's lead over Sony for the current gen, but it could easily be described as, "dominating expectations".
The Xbox 360 had a 300% growth rate over the previous gen xbox. Yet, Sony could only muster up about 50% growth rate over the previous playstation. Oh, and btw Microsoft is the only one currently making any money AND they are doing it with the Xbox Live Gold subscription that everyone seems to hate, yet still pays for.
I see big changes coming to Sony and how they do business in the console industry for next gen. They have to do something to stop the money spiraling down the drain and free online gaming with a cheaper console price isn't going to work for them, unless they need a reason to exit the game console business.
