Sony has a history of over promising and under delivering with online aspects of their consoles. Lets see how the online play works when the console is actually out and we can play for ourselves.

So we're comparing the target for PS4's online features, either at launch or at some point in the future, with WiiU features right now, ignoring that there may be improvements in the future? Sounds fair

Social: Gotta hand it to PS4, I think the sharing thing will be more popular than Miiverse.

Downloadable Stuff: WiiU lets you transfer games from the Wii, gives you access to a huge catalogue of games already, PS4 might eventually be able to do this via gaikai (potentially making you pay for your games again). PS4 will have lower download times, but will chew through your bandwidth due to idiotic features like "The PlayStation 4 will feature technology that attempts to determine games a player is likely to purchase next, and then automatically downloads those titles in the background in an effort to save time." WiiU wins

Playing online: Both will be able to do it fine, I see no reason to call this anything other than a tie.

Price: No data as yet, either a tie or WiiU victory, as there is no better price than free.

Even with the unfair comparison, I don't really think there's much in it. We can come back and do another comparison 6 months after PS4 launch and see how it's all going, when we have all the details of Sony's online, and both have an opportunity to introduce new features.

Promises versus reality is something tokeep in mind but miiverse is likely to change too before the end of the year. Nintendo is clearly working away at it and it already has ALOT of promise. I'm a convert.

The wii U miiverse crosses me as a helpful and dedicated community.

The PS4 social features look more like creeping. Cant say i am impressed at all.

Sharing videos is ok though. We'll see how long it takes until its "censured" as the Miiverse youtube videos were.

Isn't it a tad bit early to be talking about the online capabilities of the PS4 that is 10 months away and subject to change a hundred times before release, regardless of what has been promised.

I mean, how is it possible to compare the wii u, something that exist and is a working reality with something that (in a practical sense) doesn't exist.

I am looking feature for feature, irregardless of the price.  Talking quality here, not "bang for the buck".

I also have to compare the list of features for what the PS3 will have, to what is out now, to do a comparison of best case scenarios here, and see what would be seen best.  I do this also to see if anyone thinks, feature for feature, that the PS4 experience will be worse than what is now, or just the same.

I was hoping for at least one Home reference...
