Ah, thanks. That explains it.
The PS5 Exists.

Yeah didn't think there had been any adjustments this week. It would be nice if Vgchartz would get round round to updating the numbers to show the real gap which is between 0.5-1.0 million.
| walsufnir said: Wow, so Sony managed to reduce the "headstart" of x360, which resulted in a diff of ~6.7 million sold, to 1.3 million in about 5 - 6 years. Impressive. |
Wut, the gap was 9 million just before PS3 Slim released.

| ethomaz said: It still is heavly undertracked. |
Yes, PS3 shipments should be around 76m now. That means 3m PS3s on shelves.

But that wasn't his point, he was saying that at launch it was 5.4m it had as an head start. So it has taken 7 years t get from 5.4 to 1.3. Incredible really isn't it, given the power of playstation. |
Sure that's if you pretend that the PS3 wasn't released an extra half a year later in Europe (Sony's biggest selling region) and you also pretend the gap really is 1.3 million when in reality Vgchartz numbers need updating and the gap is much less.

As opposed to here you are....
Nope not quiet for the qtr, why would i be, the numbers were as expected yet Vgchartz has failed to update the numbers properly yet.
It was nice that you addressed the points i made in my post.....
kowenicki is doing the typical 360 fan spin bullshit with launch numbers. The gap was 6.6mil on ps3's release in each region.
Also, Jack, shipment trends, and sony quarterly reports all point to VGC massively undertracking the Ps3 more than the 360

That's why I chose to say "~6.7 million" as I took both YoY-numbers from 2006 *and* 2007 so that this excuse can't really be taken in. In short just saying that the ominous "head start" was never really big and given all these years PS3 performed a bit better but nowhere to, as some say, "biggest comeback in videogame history".

| Munkeh111 said: It is kind of irrelevant. By now, so many people have bought multiple consoles for various reasons and many have just stopped using their consoles all together The real thing that matters is software sales and money made, which M$ wins by far This gen can count as nothing but an M$ win given last gen |
Yep they played their cards nice. Also MS can drop price anytime and widen the gap. I suspect some are going to hold off on buying after the PS4 reveal. So I would suspect lower sales for ps3.
Not sure why the passing really matters. MS won everywhere they needed to win and for them to hold off Sony for this long was a achievement. They had RROD and went up against the highest selling console maker ever ( Besides DS). They essentially Split the market share and it is still in their favor. Gained massive third party support and got some more first party. I suspect next gen is going to be all about first party building and thats what we are going to see coming out of the gate from MS. They have been building up studio's for some time now.
So who really won over all? who gained the most this gen? 360 owns North america/UK and that is no easy feet. Now to build on that.
So Sony fans need any bit of good information they can get. Sometimes it's almost delusional.
