I had a friend who watched KZ:SF on the PS3 Youtube app from a Standard Definition TV that he plays on. He was blown away even.

Dude it is a lost cause. I find it funny that most people who CLAIM Killzone SF's graphics are marginally better are mostly Nintendo enthusiasts (not just here but throughout the inter-web). It is wishful thinking if you think the Wii U is in the same league as the PS4/Xbox. It can't even do The Witness. xD

What's even funnier to me is how the narrative just kept changing. First there was speculation that the footage was a target render - implying that it looked too good to be real time. Now that we have established it is real time it's 'marginally better'. So which is it? :D

Dude calm down.  Nobody is saying Wii U is stronger or equal to PS4; it's just the margin between current top tier PS360 games and those shown for the PS4 announcement is not as pronounced as what the hype was is all.  Proof is on the eye of the beholder:

All we have right now is alpha code of PS4 games. Killzone is easily the most graphically impressive game shown at the meeting, and it will improve exponentially by the time it is released.

"Alpha" code? Better don't talk of things you are not firm with - if it was alpha-code you wouldn't see such graphics. Killzone is impressive but in no way "alpha"-code - this would mean it will release next year, simple as that. And what are you talking about exponential growth? Do you really want ppl to dig out this post when the game releases? Do you still believe it will do wonders to have 8 gb RAM instead of 4?

I can understand that you are hyped for PS4 and the new graphics but don't get too hyped unless you want to be a bit disappointed. Graphics will see a significant leap and will improve next years as the engines evolve and will use the hardware better but for 1st-gen-release titles don't expect wonders.

That has been said a lot recently when people try to undermine the PS4's leap. Personally the graphics shown exceeded my expectations.

wii to wii U is the biggest leap

WII U // PC // 3ds XL // VITA

I don’t seem calm? :p I didn’t say anybody claimed the Wii U was on par with the PS4, but people are claiming it is close in power. I object to that and that’s where I focused my argument. If you checked my previous comments you will see I said nothing about which leap is bigger.  I reserved my judgment and kept my comments vague. I focused my argument on the Wii U and if it is really next gen and compared it to the PS4. In my last post I was referring to some Nintendo enthusiasts who seem beyond the reach of reason (not necessarily people in this specific thread).

Also, you do know that comparison is very flawed, right? (And for a number of reasons too). But I’ve been down that road too many times already so I won’t go any further. :D

Don't get me wrong I am not against the Wii U as I said earlier. I like Nintendo's games and I intend to get one, but I call a circle a circle anda  square a square.

Playstation = The Beast from the East

Sony + Nintendo = WIN! PS3 + PSV + PS4 + Wii U + 3DS

ray tracing!!!!!

Actually, I think for now it's cone tracing ;)

The leap is almost unnoticeable this time, all Ps4 games that was shown could also run an PS3, 360 or WiiU with only a little bit lesser resolution.
Its seems the leap is like from crysis 3 on consoles to crysis 3 on a high end PCs, that is almost nothing in my opinion and sure in the opinion of most other gamers too.
Only for graphics fetishists this leap might be that great everyone else will nothice almost nothing.

From a visual effects perspective, yes. Just look at the explosions in Shadow fall or the effects in the infamous demo. From character models and environments, I'd say no. Not at the moment anyway. Its hard to judge because we've really been shown is launch titles. If you compare "Black" to "Resistance: fall of man", there isn't a big difference. I think we look at what games will look like 12-18months after launch (Agni's philosophy demo, Deep down demo), then the leap is almost as big

This Deep down image is low quality as well.

From my point of view pc players can already witness in many ways what the new generation of consoles will be capable of.

Just compare Skyrim on a ps3 with a fully modded version on the pc.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tS9rH9fqAp4 (pc - watch in hd)

Or check GTA4 or Crysis with mods.

So connect a powerful pc with a gamepad to your tv and play one of theese games and you will know what to expect.
In the end there will be of course  huge improvements, but nothing we didn´t see already.

The thing which annoys me most with my PS3 and the current generation are all the jaggies. On all the screenshots which are floating around they are almost invisible most of the time, but they can get really distracting on a 55" TV.

Keeping in mind almost every game we saw was a launch title. Here is Oblivion from the 360 launch window and then skyrim some years later.
