I agree completely. I can't believe how annoying things have turned. All I kept thinking, personally, was, "I want to play that!"

Then the next thing I know, people are having angry epeen contests over particle effects? Other people are telling me that the PS4 is going to doom gaming because it has more power than other consoles? Seriously?

Gamers ruin gaming, not power, not graphics, not more RAM, not whether a game has a story or not. Gamers ruin gaming for themselves, then try their damnedest to ruin it for other gamers.

I want to play DriveClub, Killzone, and Watch Dogs because they look fun. That's the essence of it.

Graphics is the main thing to talk about like in every generation

The only time people supposedly STOPPED caring about graphics was when the Wii came out

Graphics will always be the main topic of discussion

all the other new ideas can still be done with great graphics

i agree with you, but power is important, just look at ubisofts latest comments about the PS4 and you will understand why. but the media molecule thing, even though innovative, is still somewhat limited. see the thing that they didnt point out that was even though they did create the models with the move and probably texture it too, but they said nothing about the rig of a character, and as a rigger my self i can assure you that it can be a pretty complicated thing, though the rig on the MM presentation was simple, people will still have a hard time doing that by them self, heck a lot of people will have a hard time understanding the concept.

my point is, if that MM idea wants to reach its full potential there will be a very select few who would know how to do that, and those people are game developers who play the game, and guess what, they create their own games

The reason why we aren't talking about story right now is because Sony didn't focus much about story yet. That PS meeting was more about showing off the console rather than the games. We know very little of each game that were shown off, if anything at all. It was all about the feats the console could achieve, of which graphics is the one that catches the eye most.

Come E3 when these games are the ones that will be featured in depth with both story and gameplay, we will all start caring about what they bring. We know mostly what the current gen consoles can achieve and hence we focus on what the games on those consoles are bringing to the table. For the PS4, we don't really know what it can achieve, so we are focusing on the console atm.

imo, I was way more impressed/interested in the Media Molecule's presentation than I was on the pretentious Quantic Dreams presentation. ''look, emotions and wrinkles, we can see the character's soul in his eyes!''.

What?! I can't hear you over all this awsome! - Pyrrhon (Kid Icarus:Uprising)

Final Ultimate Legendary Earth Power Super Max Justice Future Miracle Dream Beautiful Galaxy Big Bang Little Bang Sunrise Starlight Infinite Fabulous Totally Final Wonderful Arrow...FIRE! - Wonder-Red (The Wonderful101)

People have nothing else to brag about except for graphics. Almost every games, gameplay wise, could be achieved on PS1 with dualshock. Same controller, same amount of buttons same limitations. Until we get new ways to interact with our games that actually work for real all people will brag about is how better looking games get.

Sony showed interresting demos of gameplay with the move, MS did show "possibilities" with Kinect and Nintendo is trying to do different with Wii and WiiU though Wii did change a lot.

Until fanboys stop snobing new ways of controls all we'll get are same sh** with better graphics. Maybe some games are pretty, but I actually had fun with Wii and Kinect more than I had playing countless FPS and third person shooters...

A very good thread. I believe there is a "Clapping Black and White Man in Cinema" GIF to be inserted here.

That is called Citizen Kane. And it's supposed to be an ironic clap, taken in context, after his wife's disastrous opera performance.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

To be fair, all that stuff is pretty important for Quantic Dream's slightly interactive movies games.

That man is Orson Welles and the movie is Citizen Kane.

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”
