I'm skimming over the post you quoted and looking for the part where I say the services are the same and I just don't see it. Maybe you can bold it so I understand the context of that long, irrelevant tangent you went on? It doesn't matter what the services are or what they offer. If you can find value in one then any rational, mature person would understand that someone do the same to another. Or another. And so on and so forth.

And of course MS blocks the online portion of games. are u a wizard? Otherwise, what's the point? It's just like when Sony gives you "free" games but then the second you no longer subscribe, all those free games are gone. That's another one of those delicious carrots you like to talk about. If they let you keep the games then people could just subscribe whenever a huge game came out and then keep it forever. That stops the revenue from coming in. If MS allowed the most basic online play on the titles then less people would subscribe. That stops the revenue from coming in. I hope this is making sense to you. Furthermore you harp on the notion that PSN offers "90%" of what XBLG does (which is entirely subjective, I happen to think PSN is a bit of a joke). I could just as easily claim Steam does "90%" of what PS+ does and it does it for free and with much better discounts.

You don't really seem to understand the idea that other people look at things differently. "no defending" is just an opinion. You seem to be mistaking it for fact. I don't have an issue with MS locking out online play. Just like I don't have an issue with Sony locking free games when a subscription runs out. They are up front about both and you have a choice. Last time I will respond to you in this thread. If Sony tomorrow announced online play was a premium feature you'd be singing a different tune and that's sad.

Whenever someone refuses to understand a point they cling to the notion that someone is going off on a tangent. I am completely on point with what I am saying. Free PSN offering 90% of what Xbox Live offers is not subjective.

Various Apps? Both have it (In fact Sony had it first)

Music services? Both have it (but on Sony you have a free trial before you pay because their is first party)

Video chat? Both have it

Messaging? Both have it

Demos, add ons and digital downloads? Both have it

Notifiers, blocking and sleeping? Both have it

In game chat? Both have it

Online gaming? Both have it

Themes? Both have it

Movie services? Both have it

Avatars? both have it

Multimedia storage for pictures and videos? Both have it.

Seasonal sales? Both have it. (In fact Sony has more even without PSN Plus)

Everything that matters and makes the HD Twins online what it is today, both consoles have on their online and there is absolutely nothing subjective about that. That is concrete and cannot be disputed. One company is forcing you to pay for it, thats all.

Not that this debate hasn't been done before, but there was a great post about the little details as to why the services aren't exactly the same, even though on paper both have them.  Little things like not being able to redownload your movies you bought off of PSN if you've deleted them, etc, so the comparison isn't as simple as just saying they both have them.

Very well put. I hope a lot of people see this post and realize that they are paying for something that is available across other platforms for free. The only argument people can make is being able to play xbox exclusive games, that you could otherwise not play on another console for a fee, and it's a poor argument indeed.

That was a nice list of features he made. Of course, like pretty much everything he's replied to me with, it's irrelevant to the point. His list doesn't mention the fact that Live does pretty much everything online related better than PSN. I'm not going to bother going into detail about how or why it does them better because that is an argument that has been done a thousand times. But still, the point is, if someone can sit there in this very thread and explain to me why a PS+ subscription is worth it even though another platform offers it for free, then someone who thinks XBLG is worth it can do the same thing. But according to some people here, that isn't the case. That's just funny to me. Some people need to get over themselves.

Also, since we're comparing irrelevant lists and you mentioned free things on other platforms, lets do PS+ vs Steam:

Automatic updates - Both have them and on Steam you can toggle them on a game by game basis. On PS+ it downloads crap for games I haven't played in months and my only option to stop that from happening is to simply turn the updates off completely.

Cloud storage - Both have it and with Steam you can upload a lot more than just game saves.

Free content - Both platforms have it and unlike PS+, your games are actually free on Steam. It's not a rental.

Discounts - Both have them and we all know Steam wins this category.

And yet even with that list, some will tell me PS+ is worth it. And that's fine by me. And even after his list, I can tell you XBLG is worth it. Both are valid.

I agree that Steam has some Pros compared to PS+, including the discounts. But that isn't really the point. unlike XBL, PS+ isn't mandatory service. You don't need/have to have a PS+ subscription in order to play online or enjoy your system to the fullest.

As to which service offers what better, does that small difference really matter in the end? I mean both are able to do it and as long as it gets the job done, I don't see how people can argue about who does messaging, video chat, etc. better. It's doing what you what you want it to do and in the end that's all that matters.

Anyways, I'm not trying to say that one is better than the other becuase I honestly think that XBL does some things better than PSN, and vice versa. but now that PSN has "caught up" the only argument I'm seeing on this thread is the price alone is worth being able to play exclusive games online.

Sorry if my grammar gives you cancer. I'm no good!

Other platforms offering the same thing for free apparently is the point. Whether or not Gold is "mandatory" service (it isn't) is not the point.

And why would superior performance and features of Live not matter in the end? They are what makes it worth a dime a day. Sorry but saying "xbl has messaging, psn has messaging too!" just doesn't cut it. PSN has video messaging and text messaging. Live has both of those plus voice messaging and party chat. And not only does it have more ways to chat, it works much better. When I get a text message on PSN I have to load up the XMB (which takes awhile if you're in game), cycle to my messages, inbox, then the message. And God help you if you want to try and reply while in game. On XBL I receive the message notification, hit the guide button, and it opens the message right up. Faster, easier. That's Live over PSN in a nutshell. Saying "hey they both have demos" isn't good enough either. Every single game on XBLA has a demo. It's required. There have been plenty of PSN games I would love to buy but have no means of trying because there is no demo. I could go on and on with this type of stuff but there is no point in this thread :) You guys have fun.

Hey, I'm not saying that you anyone SHOULDN'T have to pay for live, cause in the end I don't care how you guys waste your monies. I just fail to see how I'm doing everything on PSN for free, while other people pay for the same features on XBL. Oh you say you can reply to a message faster on XBL? how much time is that really saving you?
