Alight I'll admit that one really made me laugh. I'm done derailing your thread.

Well it was fun while it lasted.

And I said, what about Halo 4?

And you said I think I have that game.

And I said, I think we both really liked it.

And you said, well than thats the one thing we've got.

Do doo do do doo doo...

I don't care one bit if people waste their money for whatever their want. It's their money, they can do whatever they want with it. I'm just giving reasons why I'm not payin' for Live. The only argument I'm really getting back is "You don't have a choice" and "It's not that much anyway". But there is just not any significant value in the service. So I won't pay for it. Simple as that. I get the feeling you're more whining about people who don't like to pay for online than people are whining about Gold. :P

Oh, by the way, Online gaming on the PS4 will be free as well as Cross game chat. They will charge for PSN+ and GaiKai, that's it. I don't have a single doubt about that. They already said GaiKai streaming for demos is free. And that eats up a whole lot more of bandwith than some silly gaming that doesn't even get dedicated servers. Oh wait, Killzone got those... :P

It's about the principle really not the price. The competition does it for free. Back in the beginning of the gen I never complained about the online fee, it was a brilliant service and no one had anything like it, but now that the PSN is almost just as good it becomes annoying.

Books are free at the library, but people still buy them. TV is "free" over air, but people pay for cable.

Uhm, you think its free to broadcast TV signals and produce TV programs? I hope you're kidding now.

I didn't say that. Read it again.

Your book analogy doesn't work at all. Paying to play online would be like having to pay to be able to read the books you had just bought.

The cable argument is also flawed, cable offers completely different experiences than regular network TV or state channels, kind of like paying for an MMO.

When I buy Halo 4 I know I'm going to also pay for XBL. I'm not paying to play what I already bought. I'm paying to play period. If that means that Halo 4 costs me more than Killzone 3 in the long run I accept that becuase Halo 4 is good enough to convince me to pay for it. If XBL was free I'd be happy to pay less for Halo 4, but the reality is that the tiny XBL Gold fee is the price of admission and I'm willing to pay that price.

For some reason this is offensive to people who claim to not want to have anything to do with Xbox. I find this funny because when I don't care about something I don't bother with it long enough to care about not caring about it. That's what this thread is about. I'm tired of people telling me that PSN is free and PS3 is better and blah blah blah. Last time I checked you can't play all the best games on just PS3 and stuff costs money. That's why we have jobs.

As for TV. Cable has different channels than Network TV, that's very true, Just like XBL has different games than PSN. If PS3 had Halo 4 I'd happily use PSN for free. Although I would miss cross game chat. But not enough to stop me from playing Halo 4.

So my take away from this, is that Halo is so good, that its worth the price of XBL on its own? TO each his own

I suppose you have a point. But it's merely subjective.

For example, I will use myself. PS3, Steam, and Nintendo networks are my choice because they are free. Also, what I would pay for an Xbox only would grant me 4GB of storage which wouldn't be enough for some game's multiplayer components. Finally, with the limited exclusives that interest me, I wouldn't pay to play.

There. You see? Many choices and preferences exist.

Yep. We agree. Enjoying what we want doesn't offend the other. This thread isn't about people like us. It's about people who are offended that others pay for something they claim not to want and feel the need to spit fire over it.

I recall you bashing Plus' offerings in another thread some time ago. Something about I dont want to play the free games offered bacause they aren't good.

We all have our bias. But I think sometimes it gets the best of us; we should just play what we can and what we enjoy. It's humorous to see the same users belonging to a faction (sales2099 words not mine) feel the need to say something to put down others preferences just because they feel their own is being shot down in some way.

PS4 news should, in no way, rile up Xbox fans because there is no reason to be riled up. Same goes for PS fans rubbing crap on others. If these factions shall exist, then they should cooperate and be compasionate with each other and toward video games in general. Appearantly, its too much to ask for.

People are going to pay for what they feel is worth paying for. This is a largely subjective decision. When it comes to paying for Xbox Live, it's understandable that someone may not consider it valuable considering other services may provide a suitable alternative of a better cost, based on their own subjective needs of course.

As for your MMO comparison, I'm not understanding your point. All you're showing is that people don't treat MMO's the same as Xbox Live (for obvious reasons). Even if the two were comparable, that wouldn't do anything to show people's reasoning is towards Xbox Live is invalid; it would likely just be the result of the lack of MMO discussion here.
