Last night's PS4 unveiling event showed Sony is a company committed to digital distribution and the cloud. Sony Worldwide Studios president Shuhei Yoshidaechoed those sentiments during follow-up interviews, telling Destructoid that the digital business is quite booming for Sony, especially on the PS Vita – which has more people purchasing content on a monthly basis than on PS3.

"Digital business is the faster growing business," Yoshida said. "We do not publish numbers, but every month it's almost a new record that the purchase on Vita is higher than the PS3, because everything is available [digitally]."

Among the things we anticipated from last night's event was a price drop for the PS Vita in North America. Sony lowered the price in Japan last week, but during our own interview with Yoshida, he confirmed no such plan exists for North America.

Sorry if this is posted I haven't seen it anywhere. Anyways this can't be right. I think he means there is a better average of Vita users who make digital purchases. Surely out of the 77 million PS3 users there is more digital purchases over Vita.

No one buys games on the PS3 PS Store confirmed

I've been saying for awhile that judging Vita software sales on retail is ignoring a lot of the total. The same is probably true for the 3DS.

EDIT: Oh, and Vita digital sales higher than ALL Ps3 digital sales?!??! Color me terrified. Numbers sony....now.

naturally, since there is a limited number of good games on it. It's like the Wii U, indie developers are very happy with their numbers but it is mainly because there are not enough games to overshadow them.

No, it's not that digital games beat their digital ps3 counterparts....but that vita digital (3m install base) beats the entirety of ps3 digital (72m install base)
