Never has there been a cosole that just has 3 million sitting on shelves. 2 mil is probably closer to how many are on shelves and that would put them at 75 mil sold to consumers if the 77 mil is correct and would put it undertracked by 1 - 1.2 million.  When he says "I think were around 77 million" that could be 76.5, which is close.  It's kinda obvious they are close to 77 million, but how close is the real question. It could be closer to 76mil for all we know.

Bottomline is that we don't really know the correct shipment numbers. But they are easily close to 76+ million.

VGC has been off by a lot a shit load of time. the only reason they are close is because they adjust every other week when we get more solid figures. If they didn't they would be as far off as nextgenwars

Even with dead Ps2 numbers is still 4mil in front of the DS which means it is very possible the DS doesn't get past it

Given that the PS3 was at around 75+ million at the end of Q3 2012 (Dec 2012), that would seem plausible. Funny how the Wii's lead has been trimmed by 40% so far.

Can't wait for Sony's Q4 numbers. Not only will it help confirm (or disprove) this, it will also let us know if they are still shipping PS2.

Unless Sony in Manaus has switched to manufacturing umbrellas and razors, I'd guess yes they are still making Ps2s there....

Well they begin to manufacture PS3 this year... I don't know if the PS2 is yet in production here... needs to check.
