This would be perfect for streaming high-end games if the screen ratio was 16x9.

Steam support on chromeos would be the key. I havn't done physical media on PC in over half a decade.

Steam would definitely be great. I'd also think OnLive support would be great too, given you have a quality connection.

Ah, I see. Still, that means it's useless without an internet connection, right...? Would annoy me.

Nope. Nearly all of Google's services and a very large number of other apps have an offline mode that works excellent. You also still have full use of media and other ish.
The downside really is the lack of specific applications that exist on other full OSs. But they only come into consideration IF you actually use them. For non-Business... its very rare you'd need more than what ChromeOS offers.
Like I said in the 2nd post... I really like ChromeOS and in fact, I've been solely using Chrome on my windows PC for quite a while now to ensure I could live without Windows. With the exception of my few Steam games.. I could.
If you're curious, use Chrome as a browser. Go to its market and search for apps you use. You may be surprised at its depth and usefulness.
Too pricey.

Gaming on: PS4 Pro, Switch, SNES Mini, Wii U, PC (i5-7400, GTX 1060)
I don't see it being a success at that price. Competition is tough out there and it's gonna take a whole lot more than a pretty screen to get people paying out that kinda cash when there are so many cheaper alternatives... which is pretty much everything else.

Hm, well it sounds interesting. I'll look into it, I need a new laptop but it'll be a Macbook pro (Apple's too ingrained into my job to switch to something else), but my boyfriend needs a new one as well and this might be something for him. I already use Chrome as a browser now and then, it's pretty spiffy. Who knows!
