I am surprised Sony got the jump. But their conference left a "meh" taste in most mouths save the hardcore fans.

If MS SHOWS the console (lol), shows some core games, implements "Xbox Plus", they will be in a great position.

What do you define as core games?Sony showed a lot of new IPs and they started even off with a game for everyone and not their insanely good looking Shooter.
We all know what they(Microsoft) will show and how they will do the event - The design of the consoles doesn't matter. They could come in a hello kitty bread box...who cares.
PSN+ right now is far superior to XboxLive and i think this won't change...With Gaikai they have a lot more to offer and they are still more customer oriented cause they know what they had to go through with the PS3.

Sony covered everything a gamer could want
Every Genre got covered and some of them with NEW IPs that aren't motion sensor stuff or low quality and they showed the Console is a hardwarebeast. The only thing that was really meh was SquareEnix and in the future they shouldn't invite them anymore.

Microsoft will have it damn hard.
And Sony stole the new CoD Destiny from Microsoft and even got the better version of the game.Sony learned how to play the game.
They did a lot of mistakes this gen and still managed to claim 2nd place behind Nintendo and now they are doing everything right...this will be fun.

PSN + is superior in that it offers more deals. But you cant even say that since not evough people suscribe to it to warrant a positive PR announcement regarding its success.

"Stole" Destiny?.......wow. We knew Bungie was going to be a multiplat developer for years. Bragging about exclusive content? Is that what you guys do now?

But I do agree that Sony has their shit more together then in 2006.

Good timing IMO.

Perhaps SCE has improved, become more humble, less arrogant and silly since Kaz left. (My sig)

I don't see the relation between both quotes, he was right back in 2009 about Xbox lacking longevity. He'll be right about the 10 year plan for PS3. PS3 is lackcing longevity because PS4 is announced?

The inference being that the 360 would lack longevity.  He said this in 2009.  Moronic statements by a man of his intelligence.

Any in many ways he wasn't far from the truth. 2009 was before Kinect launched. If MS had not shifted direction the 360 would have likely seen a decline similar to the Wii and would have launched their successor by now. If Kaz were to infer that MS would shift direction at that time he would have been making a baseless speculation since traditionally consoles have never been rejuvenated mid-cycle (and it took one hell of a push on MS's part to accomplish that).

Furthermore, the 360 has seen much less support in these last few years outside of Kinect. Looking at MS's release schedule for their biggest games and sales drying up as a whole, the majority of this site expected MS to transition to the next gen first. MS has already made the decision to start letting the 360 go they just didn't move on to new hardware. PS3 on the other hand has had two of it's biggest years support wise leading up to the PS4 with revamped PS+ and many of it's biggest titles launching the same year as the PS4.

How do you breathe again?

Your question in your sig suggests you look at longevity differently. It suggests you think PS3 lacks longevity. Weren't you among the people saying PS3 wouldn't last long because retailers would kick it off of shelves to make room for hotter products? I remember many saying that. They couldn't have known PS3 would be the hottest product in the future, sure, but they were still epically wrong.

To be fair I dont anybody expected the Xbox successor would be announced after the PS4. Its a testiment to Xboxs longevity.

Behind the scenes the Next Box could or should have been released Holiday 2012 but they had chip yeild issues that didn't get resolved in time. Might explain why MS doesn't have much software this year, they are all bottled up for next gen.

Before the PS3 everyone was nice to me :(

I still don't get the point of announcing your console 8 months before it will go one sale cause the hype dies down pretty quickly.

I still don't get why they said they would wait till MS reveal... then they go and reveal several months before MS.

Maybe to confuse Microsoft?

Isn't it possible to scrounge for a comment like this from almost any business person involved with Sony and MS?  He was belittiling the competition in the heat of a console race, I don't see the grand stupidity here.  Apologizing or recognizing silly comments years later is the norm nowadays, what's the big difference here?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nc4MzqBFxZE   (I invite everyone to wait until at least 0:21)

I can find a comment too, but I think his idiocy has been established a few times.

But now MS can get their grimy hands all over Sony's specs. That's exactly what Sony didn't want.
