You could set what friends could see it or not? Sort of like how Google+ has "Circles" I guess.

Because on one hand, the feature works really well for friends that live near you or that you're really close with. But there's probably a bunch of random people on your online friend's list or you might not want your online buddy to know who you really are.

So would you utilize the feature if you could designate who could see it or not? Would you find it useful?

What do you "if". It should mandatory that any service that allows you upload any type of profile to have a hide feature. Im certain SONY will include it PS4.

I mean to put in your personal info., but only allow selected people to see it. As opposed to choosing whether or not to put in your personal info. or not at all.

I think I need to know quite a bit more before I make a decision. At this stage it sounds ok but I would want to know exactly what they could see or not on my console. I wouldnt have a problem with them seeing my games or me playing a game but videos or photos or anything else I would consider and keep private.

No one's credit card info was leaked, just PSN account details. Still, that's enough to make you wary.

I wouldn't do it-  if they're my friends then they already know about me, no reason to store that info on a game console.
