I really loved the design of that city in the trailer, very cool looking place. Game looks totally awesome, and hopefully the 30 year advancement will mean no more annoying Rico lol.

I didn't find it that impressive. At first I did, but then I realized the tricks they played to make it seem better. You start out in a chopper and see this insane huge world and great big city and draw distance. But then you get on the ground and as soon as the fighting starts the entire world becomes covered in dust and smoke and you can't see further than a half a block away. All the things that made it so impressive dissapeared in a second and was hidden behind "were under attack and explosions cause dust, thus restrict our view" It's all believable, but that's what makes the trick easy to miss. Then again it tricks you when you go on the helicopter ride, with "omg look at this huge draw distance for a game I'm actually moving" BUT, its essentially a cutscene with limited movement where you can look around. Yes you shoot a couple people on the helicopter. But i doubt you can see other people say on buldings or the ground and shoot them or they shoot you. I expect the exact same explosions and what not to happen every time you in the helicopter and the enemy to appear the same every time on the helicopter. Now I'm not faulting the game for this and think they did a fine job. i'm just not giving the game more credit than it deserves. edit: The visuals looked great, the graphics, characters, guns, ect all looked great and improved over last killzone. Just saying that the huge "wow" factor of the draw distance was a trick. |
Maybe because there was just a huge fucking explosion? Are you actually serious or are you pretending to not be impressed? Did you watch the video and see the big explosion that happened? I guess not. The "cut scene" is an in game cut scene because you go straight from cut scene to gameplay with 0 load times. You can also see the huge draw distance of the city while the character is holding the rope and flying on the ship. Stop downplaying a game that is in alpha stage development. Try a little harder to downplay it at least.

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.

I know! And to hear that it's launching with the system makes this an even better reveal! |
Is it a sure thing? I saw the link posted a few pages ago but i'm getting an error when I click it. If it's true though that's great. I had kind of assumed that it would be near the beginning of PS4s life but it's awesome to hear it'll be an actual launch game.

According to CVG, Guerrilla laid the news on them, personally! |
That's some good news indeed. Oh man, now I really can't wait for E3 haha.

Yes i did watch video and did you not read my post. I said they used a neat trick by using the EXPLOSION as a realistic excuse to make the draw distance and all the other things dissapear and bring you back into a little block of action.
The helicopter ride was nothing more than basically a QTE where instead of pushing a button you could look around and shoot two guys. I guarantee that your shots would do nothing to the world outside the helicopter. I bet if you shot at a passing skyscrapper none of the windows would break. I bet if you threw a grenade (if they let you) that it would not explode below you and have some physics reactions with cars or anything else happen. The only things you could effect during that time would be climb rope and shoot the two guys in the helicopter.
It was all a genius trick. I have no problem with developers doing this. It seemed and looked all real and believable. But that doesn't mean it is.
metroid Prime games had zero load times as well. Many games have zero load times. Heck playing xenoblade right now and they have areas as big as that city and its zero load times while your in that area. Do you know what metroid did to hide loading times? It had the loading happen while you were watching an "in game cut-scene" essentially. Like riding an elevator or something.

So you're basically just "guessing" as to what the game will look like and what happens when you do a certain action.
IM DONE.
