Forums - Nintendo - OMG! Need for Speed Most Wanted - Wii U vs Xbox 360 screens!!

Are we really focusing on how good a NFS game looks?, The only important thing is that is a good port, with extra stuff (DLC included on disc, new mode that uses the gamepad in an interesting way and support for several control types), and I really hope that all the companies would put at least this amount of effort on the console.

It is a must buy for me (when I buy the console in spring), just because of the new gameplay with the gamepad, it will be a blast playing this thing with my wife, helping her to avoid traffic, locate stuff and get rid of the cops.

Here is a video  of the 360 version vs PC maxc settings http://www.eurogamer.net/videos/need-for-speed-most-wanted-pc-vs-xbox-360-video, the basically look almost look exactly the same, so i will wait for the DF comparison, cause this comparison is blurry and is not even from the same time of day.

Yeah, DF comparison should be interesting to see - that link you provided shows a LOT less difference between PC and 360 versions than those shots between WiiU and 360...which is very strange, to say at least.

That looks dramatically better on WiiU.

it's actually not strange at all, those pics come from http://www.nintengen.com/2013/02/need-for-speed-most-wanted-wii-u-vs.html, those pics are hand picked from the web for making the 360 version look like crap and making that wii u version look that much better.  so  i will wait for the DF comparsion, because we've heard superior version many times before, i expect it to look a bit better and have a bit worst performance, they also cut down from 8 players to 6 players online, i really don't understand the reason for that.

An interesting note, Criterion said the WiiU version would be the 'best looking version of the game by far', they didn't just say 'best looking console version'. Maybe they were able to tweak it to look even better than the PC version? That would be interesting considring how 'weak' the GPU is supposed to be. I know Nintedo has developed a custom API based on OpenGL for their GPU , maybe that is the difference between the early ports and this - using the custom API vs standard OpenGL on the early ports (standard OpenGL can run on the WiiU, but much less efficiently than the custom Nintendo API).

That's why shouldn't buy into the PR hype machine, how can it look better then the PC version, when the pc version will be 1080p,  almost perfect AA and 60 fps. you can make a comparsion to witcher 2 on 360, they improved the lighting on the 360 version but it never had a chance of looking better or even coming close to the pc.

I'm not saying it could be technically better than the PC version, but it's possibly it could look 'prettier' if they were able to tweak/improve the look of the lighting effects and spend some extra time on the overall look. I'm certainly not saying the GPU is more powerful than a good PC card, it's certainly not. On the other hand, if the PC version was a quick port from the 360 version with some higher res textures, it's possible it could look better on the WiiU if they spent more time on lighting and the overall look for this particular version. I wasn't terribly impressed with the PC version, I really hated the blur effect in particular. As it's been said, there's not a massive visual difference between the PC version and the 360 version to begin with.

Visuals being technically better and higher resolution does not always mean they actually look beter. Maybe they did some things artistically with lighting and reflection effects combined with the high end textures that makes them think this looks better from an artistic standpoint. I've seen the PC version, and I thought the videos on from the WiiU looked prettier, maybe not technically better, but more pleasing to the eye. The videos certainly look good, both visuals and framerate. It's nearly impossile to differentiate 720P from 1080P when sitting on the couch anyway (especially if your TV isn't above 55"). I'll take gorgeous textures and lighting at 720P over generic, artistically bland visuals at 1080P any day.

I think we can't really judge at this point till we get a proper comparsion, like the video i posted or full hd pics of the same exact place at the same exact time with the same car, improving the lighting shouldn't have to do anything with power cause we saw the samething with witcher 2 on 360 having better lighting then the pc version.
