Look at Ni No Kuni - if you only read forums you could think this game is a potential system-seller and will easily sell several millions but then you look at the actual sales... Or look at the big PSV-thread here at vgchartz ;)

Not that this means anything absolute, but for argument's sake....
-IGN.com has PS Meeting and Destiny as top main articles right now
-Gamespot too
-Gametrailers.com has videos gearing up for 2/20
-Non of those could be seen as Sony byass
-PS Meeting was uploaded Jan 1st, and has 6.7million+ views (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d-3GMHIgR-U )
-Highest viewed WiiU trailer is 8.9million and was uploaded a year ago(and obviously from after revealed) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4e3qaPg_keg

I'm just saying it is kind of a big deal right now in the gaming world...

I think the OP question should have been "Have you ever seen another console get as much media attention as the PS4 is getting before its OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT?"

The original question "Have you ever seen another console get as much media attention as the PS4 is getting before its launch?" is asked far too early to expect an sensible answer. After the 20th it could all go downhill and the launch is ages away, and yes I understood what the question is asking,

It's just that the last word used in the question creates confusion.

I think it's pretty much the same for most consoles AT THIS STAGE... but judging hype can be subjective.
What's important is that it seems not to be any worse hype-wise than what has gone before.

I don’t think so. Ps4 is the only console that is getting media attention before its release. I am wasting it to release.

I believe it's because lot of people really thought at one point that next-gen will be quite weak when it comes to "power". Now, when PS4 specs are more or less known, it seems that faith is restored that what's coming will really be a big leap, and since it seems that PS4 is one with most "power" it gets most hype.

Despite what's most important in gaming (gameplay), people will always want to be awed by new visuals...

Obviously this is a new phenomenon when a new console is on the horizon.
