Pretty sure that PS4 will face massive skeptiscm as well for not being a smartphone. The wii was a smash success as e3 when it was first playable and the lineups set all kinds of records.

Nobody outside of the Playstation diehard fanbase even knows what a Playstation is. I haven't seen a single bilboard, T.V. spot, or internet banner advertising the PS4. Even the PSBlog is still talking about the PS3, Sony has already stopped marketing the PS4 cause even they forgot it exsist. The Wii, that had more people lining up to buy one than they did the PS4. They actually advertised the Wii though.

LOL! The Wii got more attention AFTER it released. It hardly got attention before that.  And it got NONE before it was announced. In November you can make this claim but until then you need to admit the media attention of a date is great for the Ps4 than anything in recent years

You haven't seen a single one of those because IT HASN'T EVEN BEEN ANNOUNCED YET! how do you expect a product to be advertised before it even exists to the public yet. On top of that you wont see ads come out till about September anyway.

 First, Wii wasn't shown in 2006 the first time, it was 2005. The only comparison you could make is compare Wii or WiiU prereveal hype with that of PS4 or wait after PS4 is shown tomorrow and measure the hype level, but right now, the PS4 is one of the most hyped products pre-reveal.

You guys just need to look at the venue to know what the ps4 reveal will be like to the media. The venue holds 2,000 people and the people in the audience are going to be for major publications and news sources. I guarentee you it will be at capactiy. This is a reveal to the public and not the industry. That means they will make sure they have news sources in place to spread the word. The industry people who will be there will be limited to a select few being they don't need to know about something they already know about.

Nah i hardly see it that way.  If we are talking about before something even gets announced then sure.  Every console that get's announced get's an insane amount of hype frp, the internet.  just look at the WiiU, Vita, and 3DS.  All trhee got an insane amount of hype and WiiU sold out of preorders in like a day etc but then when they came out they didnt sell that well and that is because beyond the internet people arent paying attention.  As for an over all amount of media it would go to the Wii/PS2.  This thread just goes into all the other let's hype up the PS4.  Wait until about 6 months after it get's released and then we will come back to this conversation and you can tell me if it is or isn't.  And the same thing will happen with the NeXbox announcement.  Peopl;e will hype the shit out of it etc.  This is nothing new with new consoles.  The only difference is that they are teasing an announcement heavily rather than just announcing it so people are hyped about an announcement rather than the console it's self right now. Hell we dont even know one thing about it and people are making statements like this.  It's called hype and nothing more.  Of course internet websites willt alk about it.  It brings traffic to there site O.O
