Forums - Gaming - Have you ever seen another console get as much media attention as the PS4 is getting before its annoucement?

In think outside of Sony oriented forums/boards, not really. There's not much at all outside of sites that lean towards Sony by default. It's quiet otherwise, though I expect to hear a bigger buzz tomorrow.

They both got it, Sony is just getting more because Sony is fighting for it and Sony has a built a specific image with the gaming community which leads gamers to hype it. The Wii U got a bit of press with the leak of the patent for the controller, but other than that Nintendo never really hyped it until E3. Sony will most likely do it pre E3 and will hold people in suspense for more news and games at E3. Sony has always had steady E3's if you recollect compared to the competition, which leaves their E3's lacking if you don't show everything you're expecting at times. The only truly shaky E3 was the launch of the PS3. They leave people hanging and Thats very impressive because they have people hanging on their every word, but they should follow through with their most anticipated promises.

But this is my point, both those sites are heavily Sony-centric. You look at most ACTUAL gaming websites and there's very little talk about it (though this will likely change on Thursday), no more than your average rumour. 


Sony-centric? so is that a bad thing? does that make those sites less of a gamer place just because there are a lot of people who actually like PlayStation more than the other consoles? I guess the sites who are more Nintendo-Centric or Microsoft-centric would be more of a legit site though right? They are more of a place for gamers right?

 

and isn't Neogaf and Vgchartz like the best gaming sites around as of today?

 

out of all the sites you use, which sites do you have more posts on and which are you more active on?

 

seems like you have this constant negative thing going on when it comes to Sony.. I might be wrong though

So you haven't seen the multiple videos with interviews of industry professionals on Gametrailers, videos on IGN, articles on Gamespot and other places?

You're saying Nintendo got more hype for the project revolution than Orbis is getting for the Feb 20th date?

I thought you asked for attention before launch, not before announcement. But yes, it got even more considering the revolution controller reveal and the Wii name leak before E3 2006.

I tell you what, and that is not to be harsh on Nintendo or MS. But, it is not the media man, it is the Sony fans. Sony gave me so much this gen, with the AMAZING exclusives like SIREN, MGS4, UNCHARTED, KILLZONE, VALKYRIA CHRONICLES, DEMONS SOULS. Also, infinite games like LITTLE BIG PLANET (I have played over 3000 user levels online), PSplus and discounts, and Netflix, and free online, and even MOVE (The Fight is my favorite casual game).

So, with all that combine, Sony became something that people REALLY LOVE, and of course, haters hate. But, after all that, WE CAN´T WAIT for PS4, we know it will be amazing, and it will change our gaming lives.

So, that is the reason for the hype.

The alliance between Sony and the leading games media is strong, definitely. Gametrailers was basically taken over by Sony for this announcement.

That's not only the media... it's the industry needs a new console to grow up the sales (Wii U didn't make that happen)... so the gaming industry wants PS4 to be a big success.

dont mistake internet press with real life press. The wii had much more attention as well as the PS2. Halo and call of duty games gets more attention than this in the real world as well.
