Forums - General - The Official LGBTA Thread - Supreme Court rules for Marriage Equality

Oh no.

The 'A' in LGBTA is for 'asexual' right?

How long until it's LGBPTTDA to gather in the Pansexuals, divide the transgenders from the transsexuals, and finally stop being mean to the poor demisexuals?

Sorry, this is about games.

Minnesota Senate passed the gay marriage bill.

Congrats!

Are any of you watching Revenge? I know it has nothing to do with this thread, but I suppose since its a soap and an ABC show, most of its viewers would be female or gay. Anyways, if any of you are, what did you think about the finale?

Seriouslly? Stereotyping much...?

I am creating this thread because I want people who are gay to have a place they feel open to speak about their experiences, the news, or even just gay characters they find attractive. This isn't a NSFW thread because this thread should be open to anybody (so leave your sexy images on tonymarraffa's threads) This thread is meant to be positive place for pro-LGBTA members to speak. This thread isn't meant to scare of heterosexuals either. If you want to come in and speak your mind, feel free to do so, as long as it follows the VGChartz rules and isn't outright disrespectful to gay people. (So basically, if you come in and write "ew" or anything else disrespectful, I will more than likely ban you.) If there is a real issue with the thread, feel free to PM me.

Well this forum has no women, and I doubt many guys watch soap opera's so it is sort of correct to assume that females and gay people are the majority of viewers for the show. Its not something unique to only soaps, cause the vast majority of shows in the US have more female viewers than male one's.

Congrats on the 500 posts, so proud of VGC right now. I don't post in here enough.

It was simply amazing. Best episode(s) of the series so far for me. The second season was pretty mediocre compared to the first, but the finale more than made up for it. What did you think of it?

Sorry, I know most people hate stereotypes, but I believe they exist for a reason. None of my straight guy friends like it (apart from one) and several female friends do. For example I don't know any straight guys (apart from an ex flatmate who was extremely metro) who (used to) watch Gossip girl.

Speaking of series, as I predicted in another post, The New Normal got cancelled. Considering that all series with gay characters as leads bombed this year (Partners only managed to air 6 episodes), I don't expect many new series next year to include any gay leads. Sean Saves the World is an exception, but I don't see it doing well.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Add1vy2Hv0g

I know a straight non-metro that is obssessed with Gossip Girl haha. I do agree stereotypes are there for a reason but at the same time I think it's more of a case of someone noticing say, an increase in gay men liking a certain thing compared to straight men and as such, all gay men must like it when in reality, it might still only be a small percentage of the overall gay population.

As to the series with gay leads being cancelled, a quick google search found me a whole bunch of articles with similar fears to your own in response to the same thing. The comments in the Sean Saves the World pretty much sum up the way it seems to be going, ie. either people not being fussed and giving genuine reasons to liking something or not liking something, or people saying things like "Stop shoving this faggoty rubbish down our throats". The latter being particularly annoying since putting a show on air is hardly shoving it down your throat, especially when it wasn't even obvious the character was gay until he made the passing comment about a minute and a half in.

I know, I thought it was incredible! Its probably my favourite finale in a very long time. In fact, I don't think I've enjoyed a finale that much since the season 1 finale of Desperate Housewives. Even though this season has been average and has had some bad episodes, that final moment between Emily and Jack made up for all of it. Unfortunately the ratings for the finale have been quite low, and I was shocked to see such a high quality finale get low ratings, especially considering the season started off very strongly for Revenge. I'm hoping ratings improve next season. Did you hear about the creator Mike Kelly leaving the show? I'm hoping the show can still be as good as season 1 without him.

haha, I'm straight and I really like it. I also loved Desperate Housewives and its one of my favourite shows of all time.

Yeah, unfortunately The New Normal was cancelled, but Sean saves the world looks a funny. Also, I'm sure ABC will have a few new comedies with gay characters.
