It was simply amazing. Best episode(s) of the series so far for me. The second season was pretty mediocre compared to the first, but the finale more than made up for it. What did you think of it? Sorry, I know most people hate stereotypes, but I believe they exist for a reason. None of my straight guy friends like it (apart from one) and several female friends do. For example I don't know any straight guys (apart from an ex flatmate who was extremely metro) who (used to) watch Gossip girl. Speaking of series, as I predicted in another post, The New Normal got cancelled. Considering that all series with gay characters as leads bombed this year (Partners only managed to air 6 episodes), I don't expect many new series next year to include any gay leads. Sean Saves the World is an exception, but I don't see it doing well. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Add1vy2Hv0g |
I know a straight non-metro that is obssessed with Gossip Girl haha. I do agree stereotypes are there for a reason but at the same time I think it's more of a case of someone noticing say, an increase in gay men liking a certain thing compared to straight men and as such, all gay men must like it when in reality, it might still only be a small percentage of the overall gay population.
As to the series with gay leads being cancelled, a quick google search found me a whole bunch of articles with similar fears to your own in response to the same thing. The comments in the Sean Saves the World pretty much sum up the way it seems to be going, ie. either people not being fussed and giving genuine reasons to liking something or not liking something, or people saying things like "Stop shoving this faggoty rubbish down our throats". The latter being particularly annoying since putting a show on air is hardly shoving it down your throat, especially when it wasn't even obvious the character was gay until he made the passing comment about a minute and a half in.
