Truly one the best speeches I've heard in my life.

Sorry for being very late, but I'd like to be on the support team!

Another one adds to the list - I called France to be the next one somewhere! I must be some kind of oracle. :)
Ohhh Axum- while I'm here, can you upgrade me to the LGBTA list? xD
Also, retagging! Man, what an eventful post

That's great news~ ^O^. An influential country like that in the EU should at least put pressure on other countries in Europe (they won't want to be seen as the last "developed" country to have equal rights). Shame reading about the response of some of the people beating gays up though :(

Check out the list - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Recognition_of_same-sex_unions_in_Europe. I reckon when it hits 50:50 throughout Europe, the EU might finally start using the ECHR to pressure their remaining members.

I like that you use the term "upgrade".
First, Yoshiya, then you... intriguing.

Are you insinuating what I think you are insinuating there?

Even though I don't really see that happening I'm kinda hoping that it will. Considering that all either big countries or rich countries in EU are working towards equality. Spain has it, France has it, UK almost has it, Germany Bundesrat passed the initiative to Bundestag, Finland is working towards it, Luxembourg is working towards it... So what's exactly left in EU? Conservative Slavs, Italy and their clergy, conservative part of Baltic region, Hungary, Grece... And that's kinda it.
I know that we here in Croatia have a new "Family law" in works. It was already supposed to be in front of the parliament, but considering the current economic struggles and local election that will be next month, it has been delayed a bit. The law should introduce something inbetween civil union and full marriage, that will apparently be called life partnership. The parliant is currently controlled by liberal majority, and even though they do support "gay adoption" it will not be part of this law. the explanation is that the community is not yet ready for it. I think that they are taking the wrong approach. They should just introduce the full marriage considering that they have enough votes to amend the constitution. The nationalists and church would be loud for some time, but it would blow over. And since everybody is on their best behavior to show to EU that we are not savages, it would IMO go rather "civil". (The accession process is almost done, I think that only Germany and Denmark are left, and here are plans for 1. July entry celebrations already in works. YAY! more pointless spending...)
