Forums - Sony - Boy is Sony's PlayStation Vita in for a Brilliant year

Why all the downers? There was a poll in Japan recently where 68% said they want to buy a Vita this year. That alone was good news. This announcement of a price reduction and new games is just what the doctor ordered for more sales in Japan, so why are you not agreeing with this op?

Do you expect the 3DS to stop selling? It's nearly impossible for the Vita to come out on top at this point...

Except the most important one: the butt rape that is the memory card prices.

Agreed, but to be honest the memory card prices have already been lowered for quite some time now, in Europe at least. Not officially though, check amazon.co.uk for example.

Who cares? Everyone knows the handheld market belongs to Nintendo, but Sony has to make some sort of return and they are firm on taking risk to make that happen by giving value. All the games on PSN Plus for free? Remakes $200 price point? New Killzone coming and Soul Sacrifice on the way? Seriously they've just added a ton of great additions and even I who was skeptical am finally going to break down this year. Sony doesnt need to beat Nintendo they just need to gain marketshare. Nintendo and Sony are the opposite of one another where handhelds are Nintendos primary market and consoles are Sonys primary market where they shine. You just cant keep their sales down in those areas.

I am speaking the truth and maybe you won't agree. Vitas first year WAS good. It had good games (did the 3ds had more good games?) the price was reasonable, firmware updates were good. Marketing were okish. IF nihilisic wouldn't have fucked up it would have been awesome.

Attach to all what i said: but not saleswise. I don't get why people don't get the system is better than they think. In pretty all terms. Guess its the shitstorm in its first months that feally hurt the reputation.

Damn typos! And since my galaxy 3 fucks up writing on vgchartz i cant correct them

must-have-list for platforms i don't own yet:

WiiU: Donkey Kong

XBone: Dead Rising 3, Ryse

You didn't read the article did you?

He asked "Why the downers" and the article basically asked for it!

There are downers because even in the face of change people refuse to see the good in their product will not allow it to happen. Sony is secondary in the handheld market but they are pushing forward regardless.

Iirc it was a Famitsu poll, whose polls & most-anticipated-lists are always so ridiculously Sony-centered that you might as well ask Sony employees. There's close to no correlation to real world sales. Really. They typically have 17 Sony games in their top20 when at the same time there's 3 Sony games in the sales charts.

Those prices are still over triple the price of a comparable sandisk.

*facepalm* there are downers because the article was stupid. Like I said in the post you side-stepped, it's nearly impossible for the Vita to come out on top.

Again..who cares? At this moment its about breathing life into the Vita. Once they get to profitability they can get back in the game and go after Nintendo.
