With the Announcement of Sony dropping the price of PSV in Japan and most likely in all regions with the 3G model being priced to $199.99, will we see a price cut on Nintendo's Handheld?

If So by how much and when?

Around the Network

Nintendo as become profitable on the 3DS not too long ago, why would they go and cut the price again?

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”

- George Orwell, ‘1984’

Even if the 3DS gets a $100 price cut the PSVITA will dominate it. Hehe

They don't need to cut the price until the sales are affected.
Games are ultimately what drive the sales.

I don't think the 3DS needs a price cut at this point, it has the games and the popularity to drive it now and there's no need for Nintendo to venture into losses again.

The 3DSLL and Vita will be an interesting sales match-up since they are virtually the same price now though!

3DS is selling 8 times what the vita does. In Japan it's not that unusual to see 15 to 1 sales, why Nintendo should answer to the price cut? Sony is the company who has the problem, Nintendo has to earn money to finance the black hole that is the WiiU right now.

Considering its sales and the line-up of games for 2013, I don't really think a price cut is necessary. It seems to have found a sweet spot. And sales will really explode when Pokemon shows up.

true, they should do some nice bundling though, Imo i think an XL priced at $179.99 will do so much better, just saying! Got great games coming so N should support it fully

pokemon will be the biggest impact but dont forget MH4 will be tremendous!

Right now 3DS is a monster and the best selling system, i don't see why it needs a price cut
