Forums - Gaming - Is Sony back on the right track?

I'm only cautiously optimistic because I don't think that anyone can take a beating like Sony did with the PS3 and Vita and not learn something from it.

i'm just glad to see some decent marketing for a change.

Tagged for after E3, I personally feel they're going to get swept aside by a huge PR and marketing campaign by Microsoft. Microsoft have been on tick over for a year now, Sony have been pulling all the stops trying to save the Vita so you've naturally heard more from them. Still it's good they decided to move early on the PS4 so we didn't get both console reveals at the same time so now they'll both get a fair chance in the spotlight.

Supposed leak document says this http://www.vg247.com/2013/02/18/ps4-to-cost-300-according-to-leaked-documents-report/

Based on rumors (lol) it would seem so

The PS3 suffered from a few things imo. 1) The launch price. Not to say that it should have been lower because even at the launch price, Sony was losing money. Some say $200 on up to $330 at launch. 2) The PS3 was hard to develop games for and required more time for Developers. Many 3rd Party titles for years didn't perform on par compared to the 360. 3) 1st Party launch titles weren't that great. Drakes Fortune is a good game. But wasn't the game Sony needed it to be. They needed UC2 lol.

Again based on rumors, Sony seems to have corrected those PS3 issues with the PS4. If rumors become truth that is

Just taking into comparison the Sega Saturn. It's launch price, surprise launch in US(which pissed off retailers like Wall- Mart especially), the SH-2 32- bit dual processors(involving 2d and 3D gameplay support archictectures) was far worser for 3rd party devs to develop games. Everything was similar to PS3, but Sony never pissed off retailers and devs by jump starting their planned release like Sega. Sony PS division knows the game they play and are very good at acquiring 3rd party devs support and shipping to retailers which will continue even with the PS4 cycle. Sega would've definitely survived much longer than it did but for that release time screw up. I'm confident that they are back already on the right track.
