Forums - Nintendo - Store sells Wii U bundle with Wii games

Nintendo hasn’t done a good job differentiating the Wii U from the original Wii to the average consumer. So it’s not surprise that many casual gamers are confused about the Wii U, thinking it’s an accessory to the original Wii. Some store owners get confused as well, which was likely the case with this electronics store in Los Angeles.

They bundled a Wii U Deluxe set with two older Wii games, and to make things worse, they’re selling the “Family Bundle” for a whopping $534 bucks. However, the Wii U is fully backwards compatible with Wii games, so technically speaking, there isn’t anything wrong with the bundle.

Well, as the article says the games work, so maybe they were fully aware of the fact that it's a new console. The price is kind of outrageous though.

Look at the bundle on the bottom of the picture.
...Carnival Games and CoD for the Wii?! Sign me up!

Wii U doesn't have any games worth buying right now so they bundled Wii games. The label seems to specifically differentiate the Wii items too. Makes sense I guess.

But yeah that price is insane.

They're obviously trying to clear out older stock, so what better way then to pack them in with the Wii U and charge full price for the games.

Seriously... the standard Wii U bundles are $300, and $350 respectively... how the hell does adding two Wii games into the mix bumping the Deluxe bundle up nearly $200 over MSRP???

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.

does it though?  i don't see a wii-mote, motion plus or a nun-chuck in that bundle and i'm pretty sure zeldaSS requires all of those.

could not have picked better games

good thing ps4 and nextbox dont have backwards compatibility! That's one less mistake consumers can make

You beat me to it....

I can only imagine the disappointment if somebody bought this and there was no WMP or nunchuk.

It goes back to my original gripe with the WiiU name: Regular people (potential casuals) just see it as a Wii

EDIT: Actually there's a "Wiimote + nunchuk kit" listed on the sticker. I wonder if it's a Wii Motion Plus or not...
