Any useful analysis available? They don't seem to have gleaned anything of worth over at the GAF thread.

I wonder how long it'll be until they're bit swapping to save power. I fully expect Sony and MS to come to the table with something much better designed than this. Or should I say I hope so. Come on Nintendo. You guys are frigging leaders of innovation, putting a tablet on the front of a redesigned WII is disappointing to me. I love playing my games on my controller but i'm a hard core gamer. The regular joe isn't buying it...look at those frigging sales numbers. Every store in creation has stock. Please guys, get those damn games out and make them good. I'm tired of the Sony/MS Bla bla we're the tits of power bla bla. |
Are you kidding? Did you just come in here to troll, because you definitely didn't read anything in the OP or the Neogaf thread. Literally the only piece of useful info we have so far is that this is NOT '3 Wii CPUs ducktaped together', but is something customized and more modern. The fact that it's an Out of order processor (while the Wii's CPU is 'in order') means that it cannot just be a modified, multi-core Wii CPU, and that was clear before the die shot came out.
@Timmah
While I agree with the sentiment of your post, both the Gamecube and Wii CPU's were OoE.

I thought they were both in order CPU's, but I could be wrong. Either way, it's definitely not just an overclocked Wii CPU.

Pfft. Who are you to argue with that expert analysis?
So we've seen this, and the GPU. I still have no idea what we are looking at. How powerful is it?

Nobody really knows, possibly not even Nintendo. They're really customized chips, so it's hard to say. It's unlikely that they're going to be hyper powerful, and they're weaker than the rumored specs for the 720 and PS4 unless Nintendo is in posession of some rather incredible technology, but their is still a wide range of how powerful they could be.

I know that they are weaker than the rumored PS4 and Nextbox chips obviously, and I know there area a lot of variables, but are you telling me that we don't have even the foggiest reccolection?
How could Nintendo not know?

Because it's a super double secret.
If you'd like, I could chuck out numbers for you, but it's complicated machinery, and there are a ton of variables. I know people want a DBZ power level like analysis, but it's just not that simple, and just looking at the thing isn't necessarily enough to know all about it. It would be easier if the chips were off the shelf deals that could easily be compared to other chips, but they're pretty customized, especially the GPU.
Right now to the best of our knowledge the CPU/GPU combination is about this powerful

This might change as we learn more.

Wait so if the PS3 is Super Saien 2....
So I guess it will just be the games that tell us how powerful it really is. Thanks for the explanation.
