Ugh I drink, but only to socialize or on the rare occasions that I go out. Alcohol just might be an acquired taste, but generally all of them possess this bitter burning after taste that make my appetite disappear for a day or two after a night out. This also includes beer, I don't find the taste or the smell of beer particularly pleasant either. I do socialize and have a hot girlfriend just in case some body might try to slap an introverted stereotype on me.

o.O You shouldn't generalize like that. In Germany alone we have hundreds of different beers who taste completely different. Not every beer tastes bitter :D

All beers generally taste the same, some are just less shitty then others.

No they really don't. I'm not a fan of beer, but I can tell you that they really don't taste the same. Take guiness, excelsior and any random german beer. They won't taste similar in anyway - not even the texture.

Who the hell drinks alcoholic beverages for the taste? You're supposed to drink alcohol beverages for the effects not the flavor. That's why 99% of people never buy non-alcoholic beers, for example.

I don't like the taste of beer in general (yeah, what kind of Aussie am I?) but I'm more into the sweet drinks:

- Whiskeys (JDs and coke)
- Ciders (Rekorderlig)
- Liqueurs (Baileys)

Though I did have some kind of peach nectar and wheat beer from The Lowenbrau German bier hall in Sydney once, and I liked the taste of it...

I drink it for the taste, the effect is just a bonus. sometimes i just want the taste but not the effect.. but unfortunantly it dosn't work that way >_>

btw. for the ppl that don't think that alchohol tastes something. try and make a non over-sweet non alchoholic drink.. it just dosn't work..
cause every flavour you add to it is just sweet, you need some alchohol to balance the flavours & sweetness of it.

Congratulations for making drinkers look like nothing more than rambunctious juveniles.

Many people drink for the taste. No one buys a $500 bottle of whiskey to get drunk.

Yeah I have a really good sense of taste and smell and I can taste the alcohol in even the most fruitiest of drinks and it turns my stomach. I can't stand to drink more then a 4oz serving of even Schnopoce which has the lowest alcohol content and sweetest flavor of all drinks. I had my aunt and uncle bring out some of their best wines and I couldn't stomach them much to their dismay. (There were some very expensive ones in that.)

The only alcohol I can stand is 250 prof wiskey because it kills my sense of taste at the first shot. That being said I haven't had a drink in about a decade.
