Seriously, guys, the premature reactions to these unconfirmed rumors are really, really sad.

Stop being so reactionary and stereotypical, thus leading so much credence to the availability heuristic and confirmation bias.  Be better!!!

If people didn't react and speculate on rumors, then gaming journalism wouldn't exist. In fact, journalism in general wouldn't exist as rumors are the highest source of traffic. They generate the most discussion.

A lot seemed plausible until the full install games... wow that would ruin the experience for everyone.

You'd be severely limited to the number of games you could just pick up and play ... I mean how big is an average game in HD now and how big will they become considering all three companies are using bluray?

Interesting it true... have to really see it in real usage to see how well it works. Would also mean a lot more digital push then if people effectively don't need the disc. Personally, I like that. One less reason to get up off my ass.. why would I want to change game discs?

I dont wanna sound mean, but if kincet and the windows version need 8 gigs of ram

VITA 32 GIG CARD.250 GIG SLIM & 160 GIG PHAT PS3

So, I suppose JayWood's thread is a duplicate. I'll just repeat what I said in there. If it does require Kinect to even start, then that is a huge fail. What if the camera breaks, but the system is fine. No more games for you? Fuck that.

Also, to those who keep saying that these are "just rumors," DUH! That's why everyone keeps saying, "IF this is true..." There's nothing wrong with a little speculation. It's not like we'll continue to hold those opinions if the rumors turn out to be false.

Another thing. SuperDae, just a week ago was talking about Durango specs, saying something like "lol, people thinking the specs I released earlier are finalized. Durango is much more powerful than you guys know"....and then he gives Kotaku THIS?
We already knew kinect was going to be better and likely integrated
We already knew the controller wouldn't change too much as it is very well made
We already knew it would have a hard drive based on problems this gen not having one.

All we know now is that kinect cannot be turned off, and every game must be installed, but that's ok because it installs in the background....Oh, at least as long as the devs program it that way.
Only really good news here is that it can run more than one app at a time, though I expect that will be standard on ps4 too.

He never said specs weren't finalized...he said they were old. He was basically just giving some people "hope".

TBH, if all this is true, the bad with this console heavily outweighs the good. Microsoft better have some fucking amazing games coming if they want people to put up with this.

Not sure I agree.

There are a lot of very interesting things Microsoft is doing with Kinect next generation.  Besides improving upon all the features that were available with Kinect, Kinect 2 will be a fundamental component to Illumiroom, including the Fortaleza glasses, and Skype.

PS3 controllers will work with PS4, that's been confirmed in one of the rumors. They use Bluetooth technology so you can thank Sony for that.

About Kinect, if someone doesn't want it, they shouldn't be forced to pay for it, let alone plug it in and use it. It's ridiculous.

You won't.  Kinect 2 will be included with the console.

Where Microsoft will make up the cost of the Kinect unit is with Illumiroom.

That's the problem. Why force bundle an add-on that most people will not want to use?
But if this rumor is true then they took it one step further with Kinect required to even use the next Xbox. Is this some sort of DRM? What possible reason would Microsoft have for doing this?

How do you know that?  We have not seen or read about anything that 'Kinect 2.0' will do and you already say that most people will not want to use it.  You are not even leaving the possibility that they have some really cool and awesome stuff that will excite most gamers and that they'll look forward to it.  No, you're just taking a general statement from a rumor and instantly assuming it's going to be something people hate.

THIS is what I mean about premature reactions to rumors.

So how else could we respond?  How about this:  "Well if this is true, I sure hope they have some awesome things with Kinect 2.0 to justify it" or something like would be much preferred.  Instead we get meltdowns.  *sigh*

I must have read a different article then everyone in here. Where did it say Microsoft was making us use Kinect?
