Where Microsoft will make up the cost of the Kinect unit is with Illumiroom.

That's the problem. Why force bundle an add-on that most people will not want to use? 
But if this rumor is true then they took it one step further with Kinect required to even use the next Xbox. Is this some sort of DRM? What possible reason would Microsoft have for doing this?
