You can see this thread as a shot at sequels.  I could go that way with it, but that isn't my question.

What I am talking about is how, due to incompatibility in consoles, you end up seeing the exact same content getting rereleased.  Capcom's Arcade Cabinet is an example of this.  What is going on is stuff in the Capcom Collection is being rereleased with maybe some tweaks.  It is the same content available before, but for new platforms.

So, is this going to be the future, get people to buy the exact same games over every 5 years or so, because they can't play the originals?  Or, maybe something akin to this, like they do some tweaks and updates.

Why talk about the future? Just look at the past.

Yes, this is a thing. They keep re-selling us games because we keep re-buying them.

So what do you think should be done? Should they not make old games available to newer consoles at all? Would that make you happier? Should it just be, "nope, sorry, you should have been born sooner, missed your chance, go to eBay"?

What about books? Should they not make eBook editions of older books? Should they not make Blu-Ray or DVD versions of old movies? If you missed it on VHS then you must forever go without owning Steven Segal's best works?

Yes. This happening throughout the industry and arcade cabinet is not even the tip. Look at how the extremist attempts to appeal to the CoD markets has produced the same game from different people over and over again. It is already pointed out but people still buy it. I wish we didnt because this growing stale because of it. I would be much excited for MGS5 if didnt already play the series on 4 different occasion already. Isnt there always a Dynasty Warriors coming out? I feel its always in the media. Show of hands for ppl sick of Ninja Gaiden. Currently the industry relies on less IP's so its more and more of same thing.

Dont buy then. Its for people who missed it.

They do this for the unfortunate people that missed the first titles.

There's no problem with re-releasing or remastering classic games. If the industry wants classics to endure then it needs to make them readily available to the new generations, no?
