I think we will continue to see poor vita and Wii U sales because things have gone back to normal.

Coming out of the gate the psp had the strong dominance of the Sony name at that time.

The Wii brought something new to the console market.

Sony's handhelds were never going to dominate and Nintendo is destined for lower console sales. Thats just how it is. Sonys handhelds will go down to the level they were meant to be at and Nintendo's console sales will do the same.

Sony = Console King

Nintendo = Handheld King

The same could be said of PS2. Since the PS3 has completely underperformed as well.

You don't seem to realize that things have changed substantially because of these "flukes", though.

The Mario Kart brand, for example, has gone from having some 7m fans to some 30m fans because of the exposure it got on the Wii. As a result, MKU will be hugely popular and Wii U won't come close to nearing the "normal" low level of sales of Nintendo consoles. This applies to something like half a dozen of Nintendo's brands, at least.

The same thing doesn't work for PSP at all, though. Sony has no significant handheld brands of their own and the few that they had (MH) have been taken by Nintendo. As such, whatever headway Sony might have made with the PSP is likely to go wasted. Plus, with the PS brand as a whole so much weaker now, Vita will be even more helpless.

Also, calling Sony console king in the same breath as calling Nintendo handheld king is a bit much. Nintendo's handhelds as a whole have been far more and far more consistently successful than Sony's home consoles. The PS4 doing well isn't guaranteed by any means.

Quite the oposite. The fact that PS3 was able to turn around a self destructing launch is a testiment to Playstations brand power. PS4 will be the true test of wether ps2 was a fluke or not. Even so the "worst" playstation console numbers came out to be insanely high.

While it's grossly oversimplified there is some truth to what you're saying.

Wont argue that Wii improved the  likelyhood of all future Nintendo consoles to sell higher then in the past, but what I am saying is Nintendo is most likely going down to a more stable point.

Excellent point. PSP seems to have done nothing for Vita.

I disagree, what the PS2 did to the gamecube far outweighs what the DS did to the PSP.

More like the PS3 was a fluke for Microsoft and Nintendo. But now that we're getting back to normal Sony will crush their heads with the PS4 and begin a dark reign that will last for 1,000 years.
