Moonhero said: Nothing to worry about. Even if the system flops, there would be a new one. Nintendo would have to look at what went wrong, what others are doing right, and bring something new to the table. IF, and that is a big IF, it fails... We get a new System in 2015. I can live with that. |
Seriously? Even the Gamecube lasted longer than that, and it has absolutely abysmal sales.
OT: Activision is hardly the only dev worried right now. This is going to be an issue until fall, at least.

Do you think they would want to relive the Gamecube thing? I don't.

Rushing to put out another system this early would be even worse.
They'd need to come up with the design, build it, test it, and then give adequate time for promotion and development both in-house and among third parties. Those third parties, alongside consumers and investors, would see the rapid abandonment of the Wii U as a terrible sign for Nintendo's output, and that would cast a shadow over anything they put out next. And rightfully so.
Beyond that, both the PS4 and 720 will be much more powerful than the Wii U with motion stuff built into each box. The Gamepad is supposed to be the main hook, which offers a unique experience at a lower price at the cost of less raw power. If that doesn't work, what else could Nintendo do that would convince people to buy a new console just 3 years after the last one? I sure as hell can't think of anything that'd convince me.
At any rate, it's WAY too early to start talking about that to begin with.
