Which transition are you referring to?

SNES to N64?

N64 to GameCube?

PS2 to PS3?

I think the only example that validates your statement is GameCube to Wii, but that was a special case and everyone knew ahead of time that Wii was merely an enhanced GameCube, spec-wise.

Giant leaps, such as the jump from 2D to 3D between SNES era and N64 era, are gone.

But nevertheless if you these next-gen games run natively in 1080p, at 60fps, and they have more detail and higher-poly characters than current-gen games people will see the difference, as long as you have 1080p tv.

Anyways games like 1313, Watch Dogs and Destiny could prove him very wrong, games like Halo 4, God of War etc are already close enough to Crysis 3 while impressing in more departements.
