Forums - Sony - Developer thatgamecompany was bankrupt when it shipped ‘Journey’

I do not doubt releasing any game on as many platforms as possible increases the amount of sales as you have wider and wider audience. However, reading this article it seems that the development team struggled not because of sales, but due to internal problems and delaying the game twice. Now, if this same company wants to make on multiple platforms...won't that require more work? Sure, the payoff will likely be greater, but if they delay their next game two years due to internal problems they likely will flirt with bankruptcy yet again.

I think this argument has two valid sides on the whole risk/reward model of business.

Son? ... Father...?

A very fitting gif. Microsoft is definitely the dark side and I don't like Luke Skywalker (who represents Sony in this case).

How do you feel about the Nintendo faction of the Star Wars universe, the Gungans?

"Eventually, it did make it's money back plus some".

The only reason you came to this thread in the first place was to spread FUD and wind people up. Act your age.

*cough*

no, no... dont apologise.

Ehh? No reason to, though I actually forgot about this.

The game made money, we just had mixed signals. The profits went to Sont first and TGC after.

If you actually go back and read the original thread, I agreed with your main (offtopic, unneeded) point.

"How could they be bankrupt? Their games were very simple."

Journey wasn't simple at all as a game to develop. In order to obtain stunning graphics and light effects you have to spend a lot. That alone must have cost an eye to the company in my opinion.
