Forums - Microsoft - Surface Pro is releasing on Feb 9th. Who is getting it, why and why not?

Hi guys, I'm looking to upgrade my netbook, as I'm still working off an old windows xp compaq netbook. I'd like to be able to run the latest office suite and play some game on it if I can. I need the compact and light-weight design, and I enjoy my tablet as well. I was thinking the Surface Pro was the best solution.

So, who's getting it, and who isn't, and why/why not?

Waiting what MWC brings and after that I'll make a decision.

I like it, but I already have the Surface RT, and that suits my needs just fine (full office apps included, syncs with my company Exchange email, runs apps, lets me connect to our Terminal Server/Remote Desktop hosted apps, prints, etc.).

I won't be getting it. I have a fairly high end PC and a Nexus 7 for all my on the go sessions :)

The price is also not looking very attractive, kinda overpriced if you ask me.

Just due to screen size and form factor, it's not a perfect replacement for a full sized laptop, but it's far and away better than a netbook.

Based on that, why wouldn't the cheaper Surface RT work for you? 9 hours of battery life and free Office 2013 are awesome.

Not. It's expensive and a tweener product that seems inferior in most situations to having both a real laptop AND a smaller tablet. I can think of some scenarios where it would seem like a nice solution but not a lot.

I heard that it doesn't run the main flavor of Windows 8. Could I install steam on it for example?

I'm just afraid that I would be limited in what applications are compatible for it.

Absolutely not. It is way too expensive and I would be better served to buy a new laptop at a much cheaper price.

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

Currently playing:

Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)
