Forums - Gaming - What if both PS4 & X720 block 2nd hand and have always online?

What if?

It won't affect my purchase 49 31.41%

I'm moving to other platforms 69 44.23%

Goodbye gaming 23 14.74%

Not sure atm 15 9.62%

Total:156

Well, i live in Berlin and have no Internet, no cable TV, no phone. Not because i dont want to.
All i have is HSDPA from my mobile phone but is that really a solution? No. Always on and digital distribution would give me a hard time being a gamer.

must-have-list for platforms i don't own yet:

WiiU: Donkey Kong

XBone: Dead Rising 3, Ryse

Don't care

My PC is always online and i didn't buy a single game retail for years now.
Online is better and i don't want to resell my stuff either.Steam and Origin all the way.

PS4/Nextbox should use that.
Are there still places in the world(except Africa and China) were someone isn't always online?
Buying games 2nd Hand is worse than piracy cause people think they are doing something legal. The publishers and developers have sooo much from that xD- I would appreciate if they would stop that and completely try to bind games to accounts.
Hence the reason there is DLC and all that stuff

Around 65% of the world is offline, as of 2011.

But what those who bought an xbox? or buy consoles? We need those statistics.....

That's a fair point. I wish I had them.

In 2010 there was a study that attempted to determine the percentage of consoles connected to the internet in the United States.

78% of PS3 owners connected
73% of Xbox 360 owners connected
54% of Wii owners connected

Keep in mind this was only owners from the United States, and it was based on a sample size of 2,000.

thats C+, B category. So thats a big chunk of online users.  I mean you also have to connect to update the game to >.> So yeah I see all this happening fairly soon.

*On another note who the heck would play Halo offline? rofl

Halo, COD, GTA is what carries xbox and PS.

If Xbox bans used game so will Sony. Steambox has steam and their software sales is attractive.

What's so bad about always online?

you clearly haven't played diablo 3

Clearly since it's not on consoles and my pc is shit

data caps, slow internet and disconnect issues. Not problems that affects everyone but there will be many that will be affected sadly

when diablo 3 came out no one for at least the first day could log in and play cause the servers were down

There really nothing wrong with it but in some situation when your internet get disrupted you can't continue playing your game is stupid.

And Internet is money, so as long as I'm playing I'll be wasting it.

I want to own the physical media. I never buy 2nd hand but won't buy internet only. I will stick with 360 and Wii U.  If they want to tag the game to my account, fine. I understand the issue of second hand and what it's doing to the industry.

I wouldn't care some much about always online at home. As when the net is out, the power is often out as well. But when I travel it could be a problem.

But used games are a great way to play a game at a discount. Plus, sometimes, I buy the DLC too. If the prices would drop for older games, like they do for used ones, then I would buy them first hand.

But they don't, and it is hard to justify spending $30 for a game I can get for $7, and give two friends the same game and we all play online together.

So always online would be a bit annoying, but blocking used games would mean I would play fewer games.

Really not sure I see any point of Consol over PC's since Kinect, Wii and other alternative ways to play have been abandoned.

Top 50 'most fun' game list coming soon!

Tell me a funny joke!

They kind of do that already with PSN/XLBA games. People are buying them and don't make a fuss that they can't sell them..

Always-connected games just add one more thing that can ruin your gaming time. I'll never support it. Nor will I support draconian anti-"piracy" measures. Not a chance I'd buy a console that required that.

I would still buy them, IF... the disc gets associated with your account so you can go and download the digital version while still be able to play your disc(and no one else).

i will pirate games or quit gaming on ps4 and nextbox.

Will switch to PC and Nintendo only.
