Forums - Gaming - Rumor: Sony And Microsoft’s Next Generation Racers Leaked

"The next exciting bit I found out about this new mystery racing game is that it will be shown on February 20th at Sony’s Playstation event, along with another next gen shocker from Guerrilla Games."

Well I guess we'll know if this website and source is reliable in a few days. Why would Sony create a competing IP to Gran Turismo though? If they make it more like Motorstorm then I could see it succeeding, but not if it is a simulator.

Sounds good and very believable

It makes sense that Evolution move on from Motorstorm, they have been good games, but the sales just haven't backed them up

Having said that, GRiD 2 is going to beat them to it by 6 months but nevertheless, these games do sound promising

As for the M$ rumour, I am less convinced, they have just started working with Playground (Forza Horizon), so I don't see why they would want a 3rd racing team? But I guess there are lots of rumours about them working on internal AAA games

As for Guerilla, well them and ND are going to be the headline acts for Sony next-gen games, both have had teams working for 2 years without games being released, so they should deliver something good (and Sucker Punch!)

It seems loads of British racing studios are going under, but an equal number seem to be appearing to replace them, it all seems a bit pointless doesn't it?

I haven't bought a racing IP in a while! Hopefully this new one impresses. Gran Turismo isn't really my thing. I prefer something more arcade-like.

then you should buy need for speed most wanted, my brother bought that game and its REALLY fun!

I wonder if we'll see some games announced Feb 20th or only the hardware. I don't think we will, but it would be awesome.

I dunno. I feel like it would be pointless to announce a new console without at least showing 1 game on it. But then again, Destination Playstation is the 25th-28th I believe. So that would be a good place to announce new titles.

nah destination PS is mainly focused on retailers..we might see some games but I think they will be more related to vita there. PS meeting will be just like the one for vita I reckon. Hardware reveal...montage...soem gameply footage..3rd party stuff and a list on screen of all the publishers who are making games for it and done!

So you don't think they'll unveil anything for the PS4? Or do you think it'll just be for the titles we've seen that are already speculated to be next gen (Phantom Pain, Witcher 3, etc)

At destination PS? Nah just more info on the stuff they talk about at PS Meeting..maybe a hint or two dropped.

PS Meeting on the other hand will have them. I think sony has enough first party games + 3rd and 2nd party stuff ready for ps4 that they can spread them out across various events.

I have said this a million times now tho but I seriously seriously hope..they open with The Last Gaurdian. Hello everyone..remember TLG looking great on the ps3? well here it is on the ps4..pls pick up your jaws on your wait out kthnxbye

It doesn't have to be a competing IP.

As you said, you prefer arcade racers to sim racers, and PGR was more arcade than simulator (although it had very good physics), so both games could complement each other rather than compete.

Also, development time for Gran Turismo games takes too long, so it's a good idea to have another racing game to fill the voids. Therefore, if this is a launch game, don't expect the next GT in another 1 or 2 years at least.

Please excuse my bad English.

Former gaming PC: i5-4670k@stock (for now), 16Gb RAM 1600 MHz and a GTX 1070

Current gaming PC: R5-7600, 32GB RAM 6000MT/s (CL30) and a RX 9060XT 16GB

Steam / Live / NNID : jonxiquet    Add me if you want, but I'm a single player gamer.

If both go for something like PGR as launch games it will benefit the PS4 a lot more than the NextBox
Racing Games, especially if they are somehow going into the "realistic" (at least with the look) direction are doing far better on the Sony side cause Europe is Sony territory and Europe loves (good) racing games.

Didn't the TLG Team have problems with the performance and they couldn't bring it to run flawless in its design they wanted it to be?
Then it would make sense just to bring it for the PS4 at this stage. Its easier to bring it to stronger hardware than to change everything and give the players
a worse experience at the end with everyone including the developers unhappy.
