So what you're saying is that Wii U will dominate 3rd party support? Weaker power and abysmal sales = 3rd party support?

No, I am telling you that the Wii U was never going to get much third party support, even if it's hardware were up to par to Sony's and Microsoft's eighth generation consoles and if it were the best selling eighth gen console on top of it.

What BS.  I guess that's why Nintendo got GREAT 3rd party support during the NES and SNES years?  Quit with the ridiculous conspiracy theories.  If Nintendo were willing to give 3rd party developers what they wanted, and sales for it were good enough, they would be getting plenty of support.

Three words:

Joe. Montana. Football.......

And I got banned for saying the Wii U wasn't next gen....

It was obvious from it's load power consumption that it was not next gen aka on par with the next-box and PS4. Nice to have it verified from a different source though.

It is next gen. It is more powerful than the Xbox 360 and PS3. Was the PS2 not in the 6th generation, because it wasn't on par with the GameCube or Xbox? Generations are about what time they are released, not power.

1) How much more powerful than the 360 and PS3 is it?
1ii) Is there any game that shows this power difference?

2)If generation is to do with what time they are released then why is the PS3 super slim not next gen

3) How can a console be next-gen if it can't play next-gen games, as the OP states?

1) People are still trying to know what the hell is going on with the GPU, but it looks like something between 1.5x-2.5x (absolute max). No game at the moment does this, the closest one is the Monolith Soft 'X' game which is still very early in development, by the end of the year we should expect to see something that looks better than current gen games.

2) The super slim is the exact same hardware as the original PS3 just smaller, there aren't any new specs added to the model so it doesn't classifies as new hardware and thus no new gen (just like all the console remodels)

3) If the game looks graphically better, then it's next gen, there are no pixel counts that decide whether a game should be considred next gen or not.

1.5x more powerfu is the absolute max, i have the specs in my sig these are facts. i have asked many tech experts on this subject as well they all tell me its on par, not more powerful.

Nobody is saying the Wii U is on par (only weird people like you)...you should know that by seeing the very same specs that are on your sig... I'm pretty sure you are here just to troll.

tech expert from beyond3d and DF are wierd people, i'm sure your much smarter them, sorry, even DF talks about the cpu bottle neck, i'm just dealing with facts nothing wierd about that, and this is the second time you insult me and won't get banned cause your pro nintendo, you think i made up these specs under my sig?

Who gives a sh*t anymore?
atleast the graphics doesnt hurt my eyes any more on anything above 40" screens

The industry's mindset is betting on people caring about the graphics.  Microsoft and Sony are going to bleed a ton of red ink to try to have lots of RAM and other power in the consoles, believing this is what people want.  If people don't care, what does that say about the future of videogames?

And that is what makes me crazy dude. When I heard about ZombieU I said: Great, if anyone states that is little better than the PS360, I will buy this fucker right now and play the shit out of ZombieU, cause I love survival horror.

Then eveyone said: uglier game ever and I was: I CAN´T FREAKING BE!

The WiiU has lots of RAM and a nice GPU, Jesus Christ, how can it be uglier???? Then, I thought about it, and did not bought.

But, keep in mind that I live in Brazil, here a WiiU cost 700 dollars and a WiiU game is about 110 dollars, so, it would be a very big comitment...

My grammar errors are justified by the fact that I am a brazilian living in Brazil. I am also very stupid.

I read Digital Foundry all the time, but this article is just showing they're jumping the gun. I read like 19 pages of that GAF thread and noticed all of what was said in the DF article was taken from there and the GAFers have admitted to not being able to fully understand it themselves.

Do I think the Wii U is more powerful than a 360 or PS3? No, nothing shown in games has reflected that, but I'm still interested in truly understanding the hardware and not just making assumptions off an incomplete analysis by the GAF squad.

I think some of you need to stop being hypocrites, you've been drooling all over the last of us and halo 4 graphics for months now, the Wii U will easily surpass those. It will not stop looking good just because PS4 will produce better graphics :/

I wish Nintendo just dropped the whole pad idea and just released an affordable (or at least profitable) Wii 2 with similar specs to Wii U. While the Pad idea is attractive to me (I don't have a tv atm lol) it certainly isn't attracting people. Meh.

Post Gamecube, Nintendo seeks ways to differentiate itself without going down the rathole of MOUR POWA!  Without the pad, Nintendo has nothing to compete with.  Coming in with just marginally more powerful than current generation just isn't going to cut it.  Do you think the Wii without motion control would of done squat?

Well given its 40 nm production, you could classify it next-gen there. But this pretty much sustained what I thought about the Wii U. About as powerful as Xbox 360, but in a different form.

That was my initial prediction. It has only 12 GB/s main memory bandwidth, but also much more embedded DRAM. The end result - about equal to Xbox 360.

if you want a better source http://forum.beyond3d.com/showthread.php?t=60501&page=179 for understanding the hardware, one of the neogaf members in charge of the wiiu gpu pic, called fourth storm  went on this this site to ask for help

When the Wii U surpases those games, then you have reason to claim it's superiority, but not before then. As I have said many a time, the Wii U is in desperate need of it's "PGR3".

I don't understand, isn't the GPU better than that found in the 360? which in turn better than that found the ps3? why can't Wii U games suprass that? Don't answer me, let's just give it time and we'll see.

Well on paper the GPU may be, but considering the CPU there may be extreme bottle knecking.
Also you forget that the PS3 has a CPU much more capable of graphic processing than standards CPUs meaning that you have to look as the system as a whole rather than just the GPU.

Until the Wii U actually demonstrates it's superiority, we have to presume it's on par with the existing consoles.

I think Wii motion controls are SO good that it could've continued selling without adding anything to it, Wii U could've been a better Wii and it would've been percieved better, just add better graphics, better percision, and a  better sensor to generate a kinect like experience for some games while keeping the controllers for Wii like games.
