Hello, I'm into sales somewhat more interested into the Japanese market than any other. I'm curious to see what FFXIII will do in Japan.

By history speaking on Playstation platforms:

Software 

Final Fantasy VII-2M first week

Final Fantasy VIII-2.5M first week

Final Fantasy IX- 2M first week

Final Fantasy X- 2M first week

Final Fantasy X-2- 1.5M first week (considered an expansion)

Final Fantasy XII- 1.8M first week

Hardware- during release date (DR) and after release date weekly (AR)

Final Fantasy VII- DR- 165k AR- 121k (First Final Fantasy game for PS1)

Final Fantasy VIII- DR- 108k AR- 53k

Final Fantasy IX- DR- 65k- AR- 29k (This game released near when the PS2 was launching in Japan)

Final Fantasy X- DR- 172k- AR- 113k (First Final Fantasy game for the PS2)

Final Fantasy X-2- DR- 80k- AR- 69k (Considered an expansion from Final Fantasy X)

Final Fantasy XII- DR- 66k- AR- 41k

Okay after my analysis on the past Final Fantasy games released on the Playstation format. I can rest assured that this release of FFXIII will not be spectular.

First I think this game will garner the fans into purchasing the PS3 or the fans might already own the PS3. Second considering the change of gaming tastes in Japan, I expect hardware units during the release of FFXIII like this:

Playstation 3 Hardware for during Final Fantasy XIII opening week (DR) and after Final Fantasy first week (AR):

Final Fantasy XIII- DR- 130k or 150k and AR- 40k or 50k 

Now software I expect anywhere between 500k to 1M units of Final Fantasy XIII to be sold first day.

Thats my prediction and analysis of the past on Final Fantasy games

it depends on the release date, if it comes out in Jan 09, I'd say 1.1-1.3 million first week.

if Jun 09, I say 1.2-1.4 million.

User base is everything.

Depends on how larger the userbase is for the PS3 at the time of its release. Couldn't tell ya right now though.

Well the userbase in Japan for the PS2 was huge and when FFX released it only managed to sell 172k PS2 units that week alone and dropped.

It will do super duper good just like every other ff game in Japan or rpg for that matter that is made by square,enix or square-enix.

I understand software wise, but will FFXIII push PS3 units like most blogs-forums around the internet proclaim?

It'll do really good, but only percentage wise to the PS3 hardware. If PS3 has 3 million units sold in Japan by the time it releases, then a million first week is the only reasonable highest limit. It's really ultimately going to depend on the userbase of PS3 and how much the game pushes the userbase.

if Dynasty Warrior 6 can push PS3, I have no doubt that FFXIII will.

to be fair, you should list "BR" number as a fair comparison

~1.3 million maybe? When it releases it will push PS3 past Wii for three weeks as was the case with the FF game + PSP relaunch earlier in 2007
