Forums - Gaming - Dave Cox: Yeah we have Castlevania MOF HD ready to go

HD assets for upcoming 3DS title Castlevania: Lords Of Shadow - Mirror Of Fate already exist at developer MercurySteam, the game's producer has revealed.

Speaking to CVG in London this morning, Konami's head of UK studio Dave Cox confirmed the firm would "absolutely" consider an upgraded version of Mirror of Fate for home consoles, should it be successful on 3DS.

He said: "We created everything in high definition - all the textures, all the levels, high-poly models, everything - and we kind of shrunk it all down into the 3DS.

"Then we lost bones from characters, you know, we dropped the resolution of the textures and everything to make it fit. At MercurySteam we have an HD version of the game sitting there in a computer somewhere."

Asked directly if the studio would consider an HD console version, Cox replied: "Absolutely, yeah. We would consider it.

"We want as many people to play it as possible. Obviously we have an exclusivity deal with Nintendo right now though and they've been very supportive of the product."

Mirror of Fate publisher Nintendo has confirmed a March 8 release date in the UK and a March 5 release date in the US.

What I really want to hear is, "Igarashi: Yeah, I have a new Castlevania ready to go."

I agree, Im still hoping for decent sales for the game but the series needs to be back in the hands of IGA

Kind of stupid to tell people before it's even released, those who have an HD console and a 3DS will probably skip the 3DS version when they read this.

Nintendo should punch this guy.

I agree, he was so candid about it too haha.  Tthe way developers are approaching the 3DS this gen is kinda alarming.  For a handheld to have such dominant market control, they are more than eager to rerelease the titles for home consoles.

so they want people to wait for the HD version and then blame Nintendo fans for why their games don't sell?

such an idiot!

It will probably have extra levels too, like RE: Revelations.

This quote will no doubt have an effect on the sales of the 3DS version.

I don't own an HD console, but I'll skip the game because of this or at least wait until it has dropped heavily in price. If the developer insists that this isn't full price material, then why should I think it is?

@Train wreck's last post: People who sit in glass houses shouldn't throw with stones.

That makes sense too.
