Relying on a companies history is panicking now? Id say you banking on a definitive launch this year is wishful thinking as its based on nothing Sony has done before, except maybe their handheld launch schedule, which was only in Japan the same year of announcing them.

Difference is, Kaz wasn't running the show then.  This is going to be just like the Vita launch.  Announced early 2011 and then launched in Japan, and parts of Asia, later that year.  At the very least, the PS4 will launch later this year in Japan and some regions in Asia, with a WW launch in early 2014.  Though, I expect them to want to catch the holiday season for the US, so will probably launch it in the US this year, too.  Either way, MS isn't going to be getting much of headstart, if any at all.  Good luck, MS.

Either way your just as optomistic with nothing but speculation, with "ITZ KAZ" as your reasoning. The arrogance/acting like my idea is totally unheard of is stretching it.

But you basically just told me that you except MS to take NA and get a head start in Europe. And with MS expected to get the casual crowd this gen, good luck Sony is what I am thinking

Didn't realize we had a similar discussion going on in another thread.

Anyway, no.  I'm saying a few months headstart for MS will do nothing.  Like I said in the other thread, the PS3 came out 1 1/2 years after the 360, yet is 5.5M ahead of the 360.  This gen, EU will most likely treat the NeXbox like the Wii U, especially if they only have to wait a few months for the PS4.  Japan will definitely go Sony over MS, so that's 2 major regions right there.  As for the US, given the price will be similar, as well as similar launch periods, it will be anyones game.  Though, I do see Sony winning back quite a bit of the marketshare it lost.  MS has got one heck of a battle going against it.

Unless offcourse MS gets the casual crowd that made Wii what it was. WiiU doesn't have that same magic and somehow I doubt the PS4 will be a casual magnet, especially with MS's very ambitious goals to be a all-in-one media/entertainment hub

I was curious of this too. I'm glad I found this thread.

Kaz Hirai is a noob, I want the Father & Mother of PlayStation back!!

He was the reason the PS3 was so damn expensive. I love him, but he just put too much into the PS3 and screwed it up.

Ken Kutaragi>Kaz Hirai

The world was just not ready for the ps3 at the time.

I didn't think crazy Ken had any fans left!

I had him in my sig last year lol.

I was thinking that, Microsoft might have been waiting for Sony to make the first move.

I actually expect both to release later this year (even if one is in Oct, the other Nov). Don't expect anything like this gen, however, and the notion (though not from you) suggests either wishful thinking or panic. :)

So we should judge companies based on their past history? You expect the Xbox 360 to be discontinued soon? Yeah, didn't think so.

Only having one gen to draw upon is hardly a proper comeback. Should have talked about Nintendo, like how WiiU is repeating Gamecube or N64 sales patterns, if Nintendo doesn't change their strategy off course.

Well then let's hope MS don't support the next Xbox the same way they have the 360. Lets hope they go back to xbox1 days ;) XBOX1 >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> 360

Like many of your posts, you respond based solely on personal feelings. Nothing suggests right now that Sony can't/won't put out the PS4 later this year. You're just "hoping" that they don't. ;)

You too are just hoping that they do, except you have no past basis to draw upon, unlike me.

Your being just as wishful as me, except you have the nerve to act elevated and superior with your passive aggressive demeanor.

Well, if rumors are true that they are using the NeXbox to push Windows 8, that's not going to appeal to casuals very much.  Kinect has also lost its luster with the casuals, so unless its a great improvement over the first one, Kinect 2 probably won't have much of an impact, either.  Personally, I think next gen is going to go back to the core crowd.  Sure there will be casuals, but they won't be the ones determining the direction the industry goes in.  I think this is partly evidenced by the recent sales of the Wii U.  It's not that expensive, and seems to scream casual magnet, yet its selling like a dying console at the moment.
